live with parents, rent-free, free food, free washing machine, soap, electricity etc.
for birthday and Christmas always say i want new clothes, never have to buy.
buy bulk vape juice on the internet with coupons.

>Driving costs 60 cents per mile. Ride a bike whenever possible because it's cheaper, healthier and more fun
>Consider your housing situation with the "driving is expensive" thing in mind. Get a roommate, move to a smaller house closer to work, or move to a cheaper city.
>Make your own food at home. It's healthier and WAY cheaper than food somebody else prepared for you. Within months, you won't even want to go to restaurants because you will make better food than the high school dropouts working in their kitchens.
>Find ways to reduce utility bills if they are high
>You probably have too much insurance

For example, many of my coworkers buy annual passes to Disney World, which give them the privilege of buying expensive food and souvenirs at Disney's gift shops, in between 3-hour waits to go on their rides. Some have annual passes to Universal and Sea World on top of that. Combine that with paying for parking and the drive to the park, and they spend thousands per year.

I go mountain biking instead. $60/year annual pass gets me into all Florida state parks. The repairs to my bike cost me hundreds per year. I never wait in line, don't see advertising in the forest, and I go on better rides that also make me healthier, more interesting and better looking. Also, mountain bikers are better friends than Disney employees.

Make purposeful steps to deconsumerise yourself.

1) Learn to cook, but learn to do it how it was done before WW2, just buy staples and mix things that maybe wouldn't go together if you can't use food, but sometimes you're pleasantly surprised. Done to reuse my ingredients I made chicken with a fruit compote sauce and it's now my favorite meal. Don't look at recipes online and buy a ton of ingredients just for the meal.

Learn a few quick and dirty meals for when you don't feel like cooking much.

You don't even have to do that. I bought a $6 bread machine (optional luxury product) from a Habitat for Humanity store and taught myself to make pizza. You can make 2 big custom pizzas for roughly $3 worth of ingredients each and less than 15 minutes of actual work. The pizzas are delicious and I will never order delivery again. You will always pay a massive premium for food that somebody else prepared for you.

LMAOOO do you wagies even WANT to retire early?

Here's what I do.. just off the top of my head.

- Grabbing extra salt/peppers/ketchup/condiments etc from restaurants

- Save on drinks, keep a Mcdonald's cup always, walk into the bathroom first then come up and fill up your cup - free drinks all the time

- Theater hop all day (easy whole day of movies for like one $10 ticket)

- Grab veggies and fruits from the local farm and orchards at night, usually aren't any farmhands or anyone outside at that time

- Slip into local church dinners for free food

- Wear new clothes for a while, then return them just before the receipt expires - never have to pay for clothes

- Take clothes from the donation bins in parking lots (I'm confident these are never even picked up by the organizations that place them there, might as well use them)

- Take people's pets from their backyard and give them back when the owner posts rewards "Have you seen this dog, etc" come up (I always give the pets back after a couple of weeks even if the owners don't offer money, I'm not a monster and I take good care of them while I have them)

The biggest costs are rent and food and possibly travel. Most everything else is fluff spending and useless. Focusing on the big 2/3 is how to easily cut down.

Live not in a major city, so my rent is $500.

Buy chicken on sale (99c/lb) and buy as much as will fit in my freezer

Cook ALL my own food.
Bag of rice (10lb for like $12), lasts years
Bags of lentils (also cheap as shit)
Dry beans ($1 per 1/2lb); slow cook a lb weekly
Stock up on frozen veggies when on sale for bulk
Giant bag of oats for breakfast (like $10 for 60 breakfasts or something like that)
Grow my own:
-Tomatoes
-Potatos
-Spring leafy greens
-sweet potatos
-jalapenos (I have 0.25 acre, I do square foot gardening, very efficiency-focused)

otherwise, find the leafy greens on sale, and buy those above when I can't garden

Own a motorcycle (2k for it) and a civic (2k for it). I commute on my bike (~50-70 mpg) and do pretty much all my own maintenance.

The problem is that most Americans are hopelessly deluded by their spending habits they'd never do in Europe. Few Euros eat out more than a couple of times a week, whereas a lot of Americans eat out almost 3 times a day, 7 days a week. Not to mention overreliance on driving... all the time, even burgers living in the urban core of cities. So many Americans waste money on AC/heaters blasting year round, dishwashers, clothes dryers. In the US so many people can't even visit friends without wasting money. Not to mention huge and pointless McMansions.

If the average American spent like the average Euro, there would be a lot less poverty in the US. I personally learned how to spend less when I came back to the states, but the consumerist culture starts creeping back after a while.

1. Fast food, soda, and any other sort of unnecessary habits that involve drugs - cut them out. Immediately.

There is no bigger waste of money for the average person than regular alcohol consumption, smoking tobacco or using other nicotine related products. Caffeine and any other sort of high sugar, high caffeine content based beverage or food is a literal waste of your time, your money, and your health. We don't need caffeine to function as human beings, nor nicotine, nor excessive consumption of carbohydrates; alcohol is practically useless too. I saved so much money by quitting smoking last year and completely doing away with alcohol. I haven't had a Coke in probably say well over five years. substitute all that caffeine with some good regular sleep, and you'll be fine.

2. Minimize using a personal vehicle - opt for public transportation or walking/cycling if possible.

Car insurance is expensive where I live, and having a vehicle can be quite the chore to keep up on. Sometimes it is more trouble than its worth. That's why I only register and insure my car during the Spring and
Summer months, and use the bus during the fall and winter months. I save on maintenance and excess vehicle wear, all whilst doing away with monthly car insurance payments for half of the year. Still get to enjoy travel during the best time of year.

3. Cut your own hair (or, just shave it all off when it gets too long).

I never paid all that much for my haircuts, but I average $15 per cut, every two weeks. That's $360 a year that is now in my pocket thanks to a few YouTube tutorials on how to not fuck up my own hair.

4. Cook as many of your own meals as you can from home. Always make leftovers to get you through the week.

Eating out can cost a fucking fortune if you fall into the trap of doing it often enough. For a lot of people, they do this at least once every day of the week, and then some.

>> No.16926780

>>16926704

5. Go for the cheapest cellphone service that you possibly can.

I was on Foodstamps a few years ago, and I still had my card. Thanks to Obama, I qualified for an Obamaphone. I get free cellphone service and cellular data every month. For life. The phone I have is shit currently, and I need to buy a new device, but the service does its job. I got rid of my old carrier (Verizon) and my old iPhone that I was paying more than $70/mo just to use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. etc.; We don't need it. We want it. We want social validation and we want to feel included. Keep to one of these if you feel you can't live without some form of social media, but do your best to ask yourself regularly, "Do I really need this, or do I just want it" You don't always need the flashiest phone in the world. For me, as long as I can make calls with it and can get a decent signal somewhere in a pinch, good enough for me.

6. Hold onto the first and third checks of every month until the following week; don't impulse buy/spend.

I know a lot of wagies do this and this shit pisses me the fuck off. Practically everyone I work with is a literal retard and blows all of their money as soon as they get it. Don't do this. I'm not saying you can't ever go out and get smashed with your buddies ever again. All I'm saying is, if you're in the habit of doing this shit more than say once every couple of weeks, then you're probably living well beyond your means if you're looking to move up in the socioeconomic hierarchy.

That's all I got. I'm still a poorfag but at least in five years time I'll hopefully be a poorfag who owns some fucking land. Then I can start building my own house.

One person's "sensible" choice can break another person's bank. If you think being frugal is embarrassing, then you've completely missed the point of being frugal.
