Do you sell and buy a lot via Ebay? How do you avoid being scammed, especially from someone paying with stolen credit cards or similar.

>> No.16742425

You don't. Ebay is a scammer's paradise and the buyer is always right. They will always get a refund and your account will always be flagged for random reasons. There is virtually nothing you can do to protect yourself once a scammer decides to steal from you since all they have to say are the magic words "item not as described" and ebay will instantly favor the buyer, no questions asked.

Alright but they have to send the item back if they do that, so they can't literally steal it. What happens if they dispute the item, Ebay gives them the money back, and they never return the item?

They send an empty box back with tracking. You just got anal raped.

Literally happens all the time.
And you wanna know the 'bigger' scam is that they RESELL that item a week later ON EBAY ITSELF!
So they use a stolen credit card, buy your shit (usually under 100 dollars), send the shit to an old country house address that may not even be occupied, the mailman leaves it on the porch, they come by and pick it up, claim it wasn't as advertised, keep the item, get refund, and then resell it under a different name or at a flea market.
Name a better petty scam.

What if you use a courier that requires the person on the sale to sign? UPS offers signature requirements.

>sellers are always honest & never trying upselling their item by claiming "mint" or "like new" when its not
I love finding a rare DVD, with a stock photo, thats listed as Like New, with no description. I know before i even receive it thats its going back, at the sellers expense. Watching them squirm, come up with excuses, tell me its somehow my fault, & claim they wont accept a return is just hilarious

Jesus christ the retardation in this thread. I’ve been using ebay for literally almost every major electronics purchase I buy since I was like 11. And then I sell my old model of whatever new thing I bought to almost maintain an equilibrium on my bank account as far as upgrading my personal technology goes.

Ama (and for the love of god don’t listen to the NEET faggots so far)

Is there a way to restrict people with low rep from bidding on auctions? I didn't see any option to do that, just restrict people with strikes on their account and such.

video tape yourself proving the item works and packaging and shipping it.
video tape yourself opening it if you think you're being scammed on a return.
not only will they pay for the item, but also pay for return shipping and probably be banned too.

>i sell printer
>buyer opens case
>i knew it was a scam, nothing wrong with item. i have video evidence of it working, model number and serial number.
>i send return label with tracking at their expense
>i receive item
>video record sender label, tracking number, and me opening box
>open box on camera. no cuts, no pan away... indisputable video evidence
>gallon of water
>kek
>send video to ebay
>i keep money
>buyer banned and paid more for the printer due to return shipping

kinda painstaking, but if you sell a lot of shit on ebay, it may save you one day.
