What makes you think they can rewrite it with 2.0?
They have less funds and less developers
How can 2.0 actually work it'l has been over 4 years and an unfathomable amount if money wasted

the biggest problem eth has is there is no real loyalty.
btc built and continues to build a cadre loyalist. like them or not, btc maxis are true soldiers.
the moment a tezos, rsk, tron comes along....it peels off a big chunk of developers who go play over there.
the basic issue is btc supporters are ideologues whereas eth supporters are just stupid bugmen (im in it for the tech!!!) who are constantly attracted to the next shiny ball

Harmony One. What are other ETH killers? Please list.

To compete with traditional payment processing for example;

Random consensus and staking is the only way.

Current payment processing is done by 3-5 companies. Hardware+software must be sold together, mainly by HP. The most popular software is sequential and written in R, and probably only 1-2 people in the world understand the code. Visa ect add capacity by buying more hardware+software and splitting the payment processing up. Very soon bandwidth will bottleneck this approach.

It's true
New eth devs are trying stuff like EIP-2025 to create 140k eth tokens to fund development
While old devs are cashing out a stack of 500k+ eth to develop a video game
