For the sake of business and long term success, would it be better to learn Japanese or Cantonese?

On one hand, weebs and declining population make japanese unappealing.

On the other hand, mainland communists and limited mobility make Cantonese unappealing.

Mandarin speaker here.
goy, the people that only speak cantonese are not worth talking to. Any cantonese speaking person worth talking to at least understands either mandarin or english. Learning cantonese if you're not specifically wanting to move to Hong Kong is like learning only Swiss German to go to Germany.
Don't worry about the Mandarin copypasta, it's a 老外 that expects to be able to do business in China the same as he can here.
If you learn and speak Mandarin, learning to understand Cantonese is not hard at all, and if you're going to Hong Kong, you'll speak it in no time.
Also, Taiwan also speaks Mandarin breh.

Then again, why do you want to learn any east-asian language? You need to have a reason. As for me, it was to prepare for the future, because chinks WILL have the next 'Silicon Valley'.
