Bonds are only really useful during a crash and you can't wait it out. Read a book a while back and they do make a case for bonds in that depending on your timeframe, heavier into bonds can help cushion your blow and lead to better returns overall. That being said, market is going wild right now and who knows when this rally will end. I am in my 20s and can wait out a crash. I'll buy more when it crashes, as well. Once I turn 30, I'm gonna change my bond preference to 10 percent and add one percent every year until my 50s,then I'll probably add 2 percent, so on. You want bonds when you are old and expect a major crash.

If you have even more money, then you can swing back and max up your 401k, but depending on your age, I personally just max my match (especially since it is shit anyways I only get a 2 percent match of my income and have to put in 4 percent fuck off) and put the rest in stonks and crypto
