Before you buy, let me tell you a story.
I was visiting San Francisco to see one of my friends. We went to a strip club, and while I was there, I saw Sergey, surrounded by women. He was throwing tons of money at them, but not just bills. It was stacks upon stacks of $10,000, sealed up with white paper bands like he had just come straight from a bank.
I went up to him and congratulated him on the success of Chainlink as of late (this was about a month ago), and he started laughing. He took a hefty swig from a bottle of Dom Perignon, and said, "Yeah? You think I care, stinky?"
Confused, I asked what he meant, and said that he had obviously put a lot of work into LINK and he should be proud.
"I don't give two fucks about Chainlink, kid."
He was about to say something else but one of the strippers tapped him on the shoulder. Sergey pulled out from his pocket the biggest ziplock bag full of cocaine I've ever seen in my life. It looked like one of those gallon bags, almost bulging at the seams. The stripper ran off into a back room with it.
He then pulled out a Zippo lighter.
"You wanna know what I think about Chainlink?"
He picked up his bottle of champagne on the floor, pulled about 20 stacks of bills from a duffel bag, threw them on the floor, poured champagne all over them, flicked his Zippo, and dropped it onto the pile. Almost instantly the whole stack caught.
I stared at him, speechless.
"It's called a 'PUMP and DUMP,' kid."
He laughed as he watched the pile burn before losing interest and going into a back room with his entourage of strippers following carrying duffel bags full of what I assume was money and coke.
This is the man you are supporting by buying LINK.

It is a scam to solve a problem that does not exist. If it has the ability to do what people says it does then other cryptos would have copied it a long time ago. There was a pump recently, but now the rest of the people are still holding their bags after the dump and are now trying to hype up Chainlink to dump it. Recently the founder sold $700 million of Chainlink. The sole purpose of this crypto is to scam as much people as possible

Proof of scam: If you look at the code in the contract, it's a token printed out of nothing and isn't decentralized. The Chainlink team has 35% or more of the supply so they have every reason to make sure the token goes up in value so they have a lot of money tied up into their wallet. Sergey Nazarov was a part of NXT, a failed startup and is a philosophy major with no visible or credible computer science skills. Most of their partnerships are just word of mouth and hold no legitimacy as real relationships that are working on using Chainlink. They are merely researching and discussing what Chainlink is doing just like Vitalik Buterin did when he talked in person with Zilliqa's team about sharding to learn how it works so Ethereum can look into implementing it. They raised $32 million without any working products or services in 2017. This is in a similar funding as EOS, who raised $4 billion without a working porudtc or service.

Proof of legitimacy: Chainlink is focused on creating the first decentralized working oracles in all of crypto. They have the leading hand in doing so and are very active outside of social media in promoting events and meetups. The Github for Chainlink isn't active as much as it could be, however they do have a lot of work in progress and as far as we know, the partnerships they have gained have something to show for the work they are putting in behind closed doors. The memetics and community of Chainlink investors is perhaps the biggest in the industry. There are 80,000 wallets and counting meaning a lot of people are enthusiastic about Chainlink's technology as well as their ROI in case of the tech being adopted. There are official tweets suggesting Chainlink's partnership with SWIFT and Google are real. Take that with a grain of salt.

Because I feel bad for OP not getting any serious replies I’ll redpill him.

Bunch of 4channers tried to force it as /ourcoin/, during the presale ico phase of chainlink there was a minimum requirement of 300eth to enter the presale. Bunch of anons pooled up together and shared presale links to fill them with their eth. Coin continued to get shilled and pumped up and hyped for the sibios event that link was attended, whole event turned out to be a flop chainlink had a presentation in a room of like 18 people next to the public toilets, literally no news or partnership came from the event and the coin dumped back to below ico prices and created 1000's of bagholder anons. Now during this alt bull run lots of anons and took advantage of this and shilling this coin to all the new money and newfags that joined in december and don't know this story. The coin is HEAVILY manipulated and the supply is dried up from huge whales who accumulated below ICO price to create a artificially lower supply (a lot like REQ) and these people have so much room to dump on all of you faggots to still be in profit when the time comes. In regards to actual project that chainlink aiming to achieve it's nothing more than a basic json parser for smart contracts, would take like a day to add to ethereum by itself.. literally making links whole concept pointless and definitely no need for a token. Would take a lot longer to get it working with bitcoin but the bitcoin core devs would be able to work out the solution a lot quicker than chainlink will, think that's something worth noting that literally nothing is completed and you're literally just buying a whitepaper, they have only 2 developers and they don't communicate at all with no proven background on either, in fact sergey was involved in a project before chainlink called NxT that he since been abandoned until it was took over by a new developer team

Yes, chain-link is a scam.

Oracles will not require a middle-man. It is just not necessary or needed.

The way the scam works is this. It is pumped and dumped in cycles on Biz. When every post is about link being the esential part of the 4th industrial revoluton, it is being pumped. When every post is about link going down, it is dumped.

The people who understand the scam buy when it has been dumped, and sell when it is being pumped. Obviously, they are taking money of you guys, and it's pretty sad to see.

Ethereum and Chainlink stole from Ripple.

Chainlink is a scam because first of all it is an ERC20 token and has had a 5 years headstart on ripple after ripple put a hold on the project and still has nothing to show for it, it requires you use an Ethereum node in order for it to even work. Chainlink stole from ripple's codius and rushed a half-assed project.

Ethereum Is a scam because the founder vitalik Tried to intern at ripple back in 2013, after talking to one of the lead developers he quickly rushed out to release his project in order to be first. Ethereum can't scale which makes chainlink useless for smart contracts.

Ripple Announced codius in 2014 and in a month had a working prototype, the project was put on hold because at the time there wasn't much use case for it. ripple dropped everything to laser focus on bringing utility and regulation clarity to XRP and the crypto ecosystem instead.

Much of that is actual token holders executing transactions because they want to pump their bags, so they execute small orders. Secondly, a lot of that is the actual heartbeat network, chainlink themselves running continual orders to "ensure" their network stays afloat, essentially make it a talking point like you have here. We know zero actual people use chainlink because there are NO DAPPS that actually use their service. Zero. None.

And there never will be, because the cost of using their API will exceed hosting costs such as AWS by many, many multiples. If they wanted to become like AWS for information retrieval in terms of cost, they would need tons of infrastructure which I haven't heard a single peep about. Just more useless marketing which devs, shills or however closely related you are to the team, post here.

The idea doesn't make sense. The service doesn't make sense. And even if it were to, the costs, gargantuan as they are, would not make sense for any company... particularly small startups with zero budget. This is why chainlink is so desperate to show some development by other tokens (the infamous MOAB deflationary token tweet) so that they can marketdump some more and continue their marketing.

Lastly, before I finish this proper spanking and send you home, the service you are referring to is just a contract side price query for Ethereum. Useless because I could do the same thing for ZERO cost with this,

https://api.coinmarketcap.com/v1/ticker/ethereum/

or

https://api.etherscan.io/api?module=stats&action=ethprice

Are you seriously telling me you retards spent over 50 million trying to do that? Create something which I can get a link for and execute immediately then send to a contract I control?

Either one of these services cost zero unless I were to make many calls. Let's compare. It costs me about $600 to make 10,000 calls daily... for either one of those APIs... chainlink costs about I think a third of a token?

1/3 of Chainlink, let's give you guys the benefit and say it's $1.00, so about .33 cents. Let's round down more. 30 cents. It costs me 30 cents a call.

10.000 x .3 = $3,000 for one day

vs

$600 for one day

Let's pick the shortest month of the year, 28 days. So in 28 days it would be...

10.000 x .3 = $3,000 x 28 = $84000 (a dev's annual salary)

vs

$600 for one month

Hmmm. Even if they got the cost of their API down to a fifth (which they won't) and the PRICE WENT DOWN (contrary to what the holders want), it would still, NEVER BE AFFORDABLE

In reality its obviously isn't a "scam" in laymans terms, as there has been tangible developments towards their goals, but it is clear that the Link team is coming to the realization that their project will not be considered for enterprise usage and will likely be relegated to smaller niche uses (Synthetix, etc). It takes time and effort to understand LINK and you won’t gain that understanding here.

But once you DO gain that understanding, you’ll feel like you just discovered a shot cut to generational wealth.

Which is exactly what you will have discovered.

Doubly so when the subject at hand is crypto, the most volatile market in existence at the moment. Finding the next moonshot is difficult on it's own without anonymous shilling complicating things.

Its not a scam. It's just a wildly ambitious project without the proper tech and function to back said perspective. It's like a kid saying they want to go to Mars, so they give 3 crumpled dollars to the bus-driver as payment for his trip. Its sillu.

It's not a scam but some shilling scammy retards in this group made everyone fomo by overvaluing this shit and pumped and dumped the price while encouraging everyone to not sell by telling them they are gonna be so rich soon... shit got pumped past 4 dollars the whole time they are screaming at people not to sell while the team dumps stacks of 700k telling everyone its going to 1k EOY all that scammy shit and now we got a bunch of salty rekt bagholders waiting for the next big announcement to launch them into outer space.

Dude, I was randomly browsing the chainlink slack a few weeks ago and saw the weirdest thing. Sergey and Rory were having a barbecue. Just a barbecue, nothing else. They were eating sausages. And the chatroom was full of people who were tipping left and right. And suddenly someone donated 200 tokens ($20.99) and says 'show pussy pls'. A minute later he donated 500 tokens ($44.99) and says 'show pussy'. 30 seconds later 1000 tokens ($79.99) and 'pussy'. Then, finally, Sergey stood up and flashed his pussy for a second. Then they banned him. What the fuck?

The problem chainlink wants to solve looks circular and is not needed from what I can tell - Ethereum does not need it at all, other blockchains I'm not sure. For now their oracles are not decentralised, who knows if they will ever deliver on that front. Apart from the tech risk you are also banking on the devs locking up or burning their supply, the token distribution in its current form is a huge turnoff.
So fundamentally hands off. But can it pump in price? Ofc it can, but be prepared to exit instead of hodling this (as you should do with every trading position).

It's a scam because Sergey is dumping 700k LINK tokens daily which is bad for price and it is screwing up bagholders. HEX on the other hand doesn't have that because all the tokens will be staked.
