I live in my own house and honestly, it's way too fucking big. Unless you have 5 kids, you don't need much. The amount of space that just gets used as storage space where useless shit is crammed into is immense. It does have its benefits though which I wouldn't want to miss, but financially it's not that attractive.

Not much. Weed needs to be taken care of on the streetside and I burn it down when something grows in the yard, the vegetation takes care of itself otherwise. Doesn't look shoddy either. Maybe 3 or 4 days in spring or summer where I do garden work. I mow the lawn every 2 weeks in summer when it grows fast, otherwise it's low maintenance. True you have to take care of your shit yourself, but you can say that it really is your shit in that case and you can modify it however you want. There's types people that like that fact and people that won't need it.

If you're scared to buy a fixer upper, learn how to fix them up. I learned how to do different home improvement jobs from YouTube channels. Painting, carpet installation, flooring, drywall, plumbing, carpentry, and residential electrician work is all there.

I’ve been doing small projects around my place and learning how to make the most out of Mexican contractors. I probably put $30k into my house and it fuckin rocks. The LAST project I need is a new tankless water heater. I’m also on that sweet sweet 15yr plan and once we swap back to the gold standard, I’ll have enough stacked to cash out and pay the mortgage off completely.

My whole goal has been to sink all my spare money into it and revert back to a sub-$1k per month budget. Good luck EVER doing that in an apartment
