hey is uber eats truly that good and easy to get money? People claim it's very easy and good money. I plan to start doing it soon, but what's the catch? Surely something's off about it

I've worked Uber and other food delivery apps for over 4 years now.
Nothing is guaranteed. Sure, you might make $30 an hour sometimes depending on supply and demand but depending on your market be prepared to get totally fucked. They hire indiscriminately and if there are too many drivers for the number of orders you might go all day with nothing. Since they've gone public, they're desperate to look profitable so they've raised prices for customers (fewer orders) and dropped rates for drivers (less earnings per order)

Not to mention you have to compete with the constant stream of TFWs they exploit that carry around 5 or 6 phones all running the app.

I've started selling meme merch online to avoid starvation.

the catch:
1) you are paying for gas, insurance, car, risking your life being out on the road all day long
2) you pay out the ass in taxes as a contractor

you don't really make that much with all things considered. it does look good if you don't factor those things in though.

Don’t do any gig app for anything but side money. You cannot do it full time it’s impossible.

Shirts, hats, buttons, whatnot. I produce the buttons myself here in Canada. Clothes are all printed and dropshipped by a supplier in the states.

I have a website as well turboplatypus.com that I'm trying to roll out and can offer lower prices through (fucking etsy fees) but the tradeoff is lower traffic since it's not part of an international marketplace and dropshipping is not possible for right now because I'm hosting with wix and they want $30/mo on top of regular subscription fees in order to do that.

It was possible for a while. For 3+ years I was making a consistent $20/hr CAD riding a bike in Toronto, $30-40 in winter.

The gold rush is definitely over now, though.
