EDGE is POW and resource intensive. It cannot match the scalability and TPS of NKN, thus diminishing it's overall use case.

Take a look at EDGE's website. They've been working on it for about the same amount of time as NKN, but their mainnet has ~500 nodes while NKN now has 20,000. Huge difference.

I think you are misunderstanding. edge is not a coin to mine, but a erc20 that is awarded for hosting (CDN, storage, compute power, etc.), which directly comes from customer revenue.

Number of nodes is easily explained, as NKN enables indivuals to easily host 1000+ nodes on very few servers, so the number of nodes isn't actually a good representation of the number of devices. In edge one node = one server/device, and nodes are payed only from customer revenue without inflation, so there must always be a good balance between customer revenue and number of nodes.

Thats no secret that the market is immature. I'm just comparing two fairly similar projects that don't hype and focus on adoption. Crypto "investors" hate that because they want to be sold dreams and not actual working products, so projects like these tend to drop off massively until they have reached a point where the revenue can sustain the marketcap and push it up again.
