I've done about $100 in sales this month on no advertising which is pretty ok. Kept me from starving. Overhead is basically zero. Pins are pretty cheap to produce. Only cost is shipping really.

Thanks. That one will be up soon. I usually include it as a bonus in the Trudeau pack. When I print, I get 42 designs per 8x11 sheet so I've been launching in batches and posting them to instagram @autist.swim to generate more interest/cultivate some kind of following
I also do custom work so I'll print whatever the fuck you want, just order the custom button option and attach your images to an email with your order number in the subject line. It may take an extra day or two cause I have to walk an hour to the public colour printer where copies cost 40 cents so I try to print as much as possible at one time

I tried buying reddit ads but they said I was pushing fake news. I don't know. Maybe it was the Epstein buttons.
At the moment I don't have a shitload of capital to dump into ads without some kind of immediate payoff for obvious reasons, but I'm looking into it. Most of my sales come through etsy but I'm on thin ice with them right now so if sales pick up further maybe I can.

Instagram is something I'm looking into for when I have a bit of room on my credit card. It's all done through Facebook ads which I've done before. You're right about them not giving a shit. My band bought ads a few years ago that said we were Stephen Colberts favorite band and they cleared it no problem. Fucking retards. I've been posting there trying to game different hashtags and get visibility but to buy ads I have to make a profile, then a business page etc etc.

So far etsy has been okay, despite them hating me. The built in marketplace brings your traffic and I've got the link to my site all over my page and listings promising lower prices (I have to pay etsy almost 50 cents for every item sold).

You can also pay to have your listings boosted to google search results, but instead of paying upfront you just carry a balance that gets deducted from your payouts. I've been doing that for a few days at $1 a day and it's generated a few more clicks but overall I don't know if it's worth the money.

Obviously straight ads would be better cause potential customers wouldn't have to literally search for terms your product relates to in order to see the ads. If you can keep up with topical memes it's okay, but for right now I'm kinda dealing with what I can.

Sonichu has been probably the biggest seller in terms of single items, but I'm looking into ways to bundle, especially since I get raped by international shipping coming out of Canada. It's hard to justify charging $7 to send $2 worth of pins.

The Trudeau pack has been pretty popular, and the most lucrative since I can ask a higher price for the bundle.

The problem with normie memes is market share. I've tried breaking into that market by selling Anti-Nazi pins but I get drowned out and it's hard to differentiate, especially as a newer merchant. I've sold more Anti-Communist pins, probably just because nobody else is but it's still an uphill battle

I've looked into POD but I'm not sure I want to go that route, at least not in the long term. No upfront cost, sure but your cost per unit goes up by about 4-5x. The 2k investment on the machinery pays for itself after the first couple hundred sales. I'm also set on competitive pricing. I've sourced merch for bands and whatnot in the past, ordered bulk printed t-shirts for $6-8/piece so when I see sites like teespring pushing the same thing for $25-30 it makes my skin crawl.

It also becomes a logistics nightmare shipping from multiple sources. If I were the customer and I ordered multiple products from a website, it would really turn me off to have half of it show up within a week and wait another 2 weeks for the other half to be shipped from China.
