Because boomer Dems (that by and large control boomer media outlets) are used to pushing a candidate chosen by a few select elites and businesses, and now they're finally facing backlash from millenials who voted for the last Elite Selected candidate, Obama, and felt jaded after Obama did literally nothing for the little guy. For the record I lean conservative/libertarian but I think Trump was a desperate "fuck you" from the Republican Party, which is just as shitty if not worse than the Democratic Party.
