Hi folks. First off wanna say thanks for the tip-off on AMRN, got about $7k CAD in there at 21.30 entry so I should be set for a nice double or even triple in the next few months.

What's the next play afterwards? I previously lost a shitload of money on Canadian weedstocks but the retail laws are changing up here to allow way more stores to open up and I'm considering re-entry after they drop more.

Or, I've been reading about SAVA and it looks pretty promising. Willing to put $1k or $2k on a biotech penny stock because of the optionality involved. Thoughts?

Cheers all.

I've come up with my 5 year plan. It includes 38 positions that pay out monthly dividends and 2 ETFs (NOBL and DGRW). It's going to cost 85,000. However, at what point is the cross over? Anyone know from experience where the dividends start becoming enough to live off? It seems like it's only going to amount to something like $100 a month, which for $85,000 doesn't seem much at all.

Have never heard of INCY and BCRX, will take a look. From my end, VFF is close to bottoming out and is one of the more stable players in weed. wait a few months for the industry to simmer down and it might be entry time again.

Cheers.

With those numbers, your $100 yield is only a ~1.4% annualized yield on the 85K principal.
So you can bump that up if you want to buy higher yield stocks. The payoff is that they are less likely to grow their payout and share price over time compared to lower yield payers.
I would advise to not worry about monthly payout, it's autism, buy based on the quality of the stock not the payout frequency.
The point of a high qualiyt dividend growth stock is that at first, you have an 85K portfolio and are getting paid out $100+ per month, then a year later you have 90K+ and are making $110-120+ per month, etc. Even better when you keep investing your earnings in.

But no, it probably isn't easy in the developed world to work for 5 years, save 85K, and live off the returns right away. You're going to need more money (or more time... if your parents had put 50K into nice dividend growth stocks for you 20 years ago with re-investment, you'd be well on your way).

You just need to do some simple math. Look at your budget (you do keep a budget, right?) and figure out how much you need per year/quarter/month and figure out what percentage of 85K that works out to. That is the yield you need after taxes.

Well first of all, look for better dividends stocks since $1.2k a year from an 85k investment is way too little. Look for stocks that will provide you with at least 4-5% annually, there's plenty of solid ones out there. Secondly, it's completely up to you how much you need annually to make a living out of dividends payouts. Some are fine with $2.5k a month and some are fine with $4k a month... personally, I wouldn't even consider living off dividends if I didn't generate at least 70-80k annually, so I can do the shit I want on my free time AND increase my growth portfolio with a certain percentage every year. So keep working hard while having your $85k work for you on the side.
Also as an example. With KO alone (which is currently paying roughly 3%) you would afford roughly 1574 shares, 1574 shares worth $84996 with it's median dividends growth over the past 6 years would end up being $100155 5 years from now if you of course re-invested it all. Not to mention the growth of the company, KO shares are projected to grow to roughly $75 in 5 years from now... which would mean your initial $85k investment would end up being worth roughly 140k by 2025. This is why it's important to pick solid companies that are projected to grow over the next few years AND has a strong history of not only paying dividends but increasing it aswell.

Not a day-trader, just a boring blue-chip dude. Calculated by ROI for the year and its the first time that passive growth surpassed my spending (30k in growth for everything owned on Jan 01, vs 20k spending). About half of that is pre-tax so in reality is probably closer to even, but it feels good to reach that milestone. Total investments are around 200k in various accounts, so 15% gain.

Hoping to continue building that engine and grow exponentially, will probably dump another 30k into $D after end-of-year bonuses pay out.

https://southfront.org/all-sights-on-mexico-as-it-discovers-worlds-largest-lithium-deposit/

From the article:

The largest lithium deposits in the world were discovered in Mexico, as listed by Mining Technology.

The report indicates that the lithium mine located in Sonora is the largest deposit with proven and probable reserves of 243.8 million tons, containing 4.5 million tonnes of lithium-carbonate equivalent.

Construction of the mine was first announced by Sonora Governor Claudia Pavlovich in May 2018 and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2020.

Production capacity in its first stage of operations is expected to be 15,500 tonnes per year of lithium carbonate, Mining Technology said, while capacity will double to 35,000 tonnes per year in a second stage.

The mine is being developed by Canada’s Bacanora Minerals and China’s Ganfeng Lithium.

Mexican Environment Secretary Víctor Manuel Toledo said that this would be Mexico’s “new oil.”

Potential lithium reserves have also been identified in Baja California, San Luis Potosí and Zacatecas.

The metal, Toledo reporters at the presidential press conference, is “the base not just of computers but also storage batteries” for cell phones and electric cars, among other products.

Therefore, “Mexico should be capable of making electric cars in public factories,” he said, adding that the secretariats of the Environment and Energy are currently analyzing that possibility with Mexico’s “best experts” in the field.

Admittedly I've no idea what a lot of the science talk means cause you know I'm not a doctor nor had any sort of chemistry class since H.S (17 yrs ago). However I do know human nature and the drive for Profit. That trumps a lot of things in life. What will get you a shit load of Profit. The other thing is I know how to follow the Fat Cats, the investor groups with ass loads of money on the line. Having a product that will rake in loads of Profit helps to. Also one where the data backs up the claims. If you spot a company that checks all these then you stand a very good chance of making a killing yourself. Notice that I said very good, not a sure bet. Your hero company must still beat the FDA or produce damn good results first before the stock price climbs/and or a Buyout happens.

BiliBili + Nintendo! (And tencent)

Unboxing videos are going up!
Adverts look good to me, but I don’t know the chinese media landscape.

In less good news/rumor:
>Refunds regarding Tencent Nintendo Switch were beyond expectation of customer support and a queue has formed waiting for refunds to process.
>It could also be that the retailers are unprepared for even a reasonable number of refunds.
I’m not too concerned, I think it’s still buy-the-dip mode if we get a more serious pullback from the new high.
Makes sense that Nintendo didn’t want to revise any estimates based on China, too much uncertainty there.

>"This bill is better now with the exception of biologics, which is a big exception," said Lighthizer.
>"With the exception of biologics, it's more enforceable and it's better for American workers and American manuf...”
>The negotiated deal eliminated language that that would have given 10-year patent protections for a classification of drugs known as "biologics," which are often the most cutting edge in the industry.
>Democrats had lobbied against the language, saying its removal would help lower drug prices, by allowing generic drug companies to more quickly offer affordable alternatives. Republicans and pharmaceutical companies fought for its inclusion, arguing it protected U.S. drugs from I.P. theft and limited the country's reliance on medicine made overseas.
>A number of trade groups that represented American corporations, like the National Association of Manufacturers and Business Roundtable, applauded the bill while rebuking its lack of I.P. protection.
>"We are very disappointed the deal announced yesterday removes or weakens important intellectual property protections that could undermine life-saving innovations and technologies – [we] do not think weakening intellectual property protections should be a template for future trade agreements," said Joshua Bolten, CEO of the Business Roundtable in a meeting with the press earlier this week. The BRT otherwise enthusiastically supported the agreement.
>The industry trade group for pharmaceutical companies, Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), said it would not support the bill. Its members include Allergan, Eli Lilly and GlaxoSmithKline.
>"The announcement made today puts politics over patients," said the group's CEO, Stephen J. Ubl in a statement. "The only winners today are foreign governments who want to steal American intellectual property (IP) and free ride on America's global leadership in biopharmaceutical research and development."

You do not necessarily need ochem (some programs may require it, but not all by any means). Once you have your BSN, you can make pretty good money anyways, so if you can't do CNRA school, you at least have a useful, marketable degree/skill. There are also other advanced practice nursing roles that have lower barriers to entry and while they don't pay as well as CNRA, they will get you six figures.

You have to ask them to put all of the veggies on. Once they do that there is a good filling to bread ratio (unless the person making it is really stingy).

Also, if you're willing to ride it out for a year +1 day, you'll pay less in taxes for whatever gains you do make.

So you say, but you type like a black woman. Moreover why do you keep whining about his salary? What concern is that when we're talking about stocks? Furthermore, 27k salary (or whatever the amount) may not sound like much, but this is someone whose wife also is earning an income, who has low living expenses, and who does not have children to provide for. He also has a state job and a cushy government pension lined up for when he retires. For comparison, I have three children and our necessary expenses are only around $2,000 per month. We live somewhat frugally in certain respects, but on the whole we live a pretty typical lifestyle and I buy premium products where it makes sense. Now, I earn significantly more than $2k per month, but I've long since exceeded the point of merely earning enough to live comfortably, and the only thing driving me to keep earning more and more is to provide for my children's future.

Good point! I own some AZN and GSK and it looks like they’re being hit by Brexit
>A stronger sterling however dented British exporters in the consumer staples and pharmaceutical sectors with GlaxoSmithKline , Astrazeneca and Reckitt Benckiser falling 1.5% to 2%.
I also like roche but... I’m never going to be able to keep track of all of these.

>next earnings date 2/14/2020
Ooooh boy could be a romantic time for me and AZN!
I may have to grab some feb/March calls if I get a nice dip.

Literally wrong about everything virgin.

I don't usually have a problem with virgins but your sexual frustration is seeping through every aspect of your life.

Have sex manchild.

I have no more time to waste on you.
>10 other people are telling you you're cancer but you're too stupid to listen. Money isn't going to make up for your other shortcomings.
