Why should I buy BTC over ETH? I've done some looking into crypto and I see a lot of people saying if I'm looking to get into it, I should buy some BTC and ETH. Most the time they always say I should own more BTC. Is there any reason for this?

I don't get what actual value BTC has to begin with, as it is just a ledger. I understand the idea of digital gold, but that falls flat for me because you can't do anything with it to save its value from going to absolute zero.

Then there is also the problem with PoW. I'm an American, and to me it seems that China has the market cornered in terms of mining these things. Could BTC face global backlash because of China and environmentalism? I don't really give a shit about muh global warming, but I don't really want my money going to commie chinks.

Maybe the energy usage isn't causing mass protests now, but if BTC goes to golds market cap which is 8 trillion dollars (That is 80x what BTC's mcap is now) that means to have the same level of security it has now, it would need to use about 15% of the worlds power. I don't see that happening. This puts a hard limit on the value and the adoption of PoW.

With ETH I do see that they are using Proof of stake in the future. Will this cause people to buy up tons of ETH in order to secure the network? (The networks security is tied to its price, there are tons of things on ETH network, such as Tether and Chainlink, both are very high value). I also see big names like fidelity, Ernst and Young etc, building on Ethereum, I don't see anyone working/building with bitcoin.

In addition to all of this, I see that everyone knows about bitcoin, not everyone knows about Ethereum, I've only met two people that know about it and can tell me kind of what it does (One of these people is a friend who got me somewhat interested in crypto about a year ago).

So is there something I am missing here? I feel I've done a decent amount of research and I don't see a bright future for BTC.

Imagine being this retarded to think BTC or ETH is a good investment in almost 2020

The creator does seem like a weird guy, I will admit that. But there have been plenty of things created by weird people. And also BTC's creator isn't even known.

I have read about it, and seems its actually a good project, not looking for small mcaps though.

No bitcoin guys though have an argument against this though (what was said in original post)?

I've made the same arguments on twitter, and usually they just call me a moron and say "ALTCOINS ARE EVIL" kind of shit. I look at their profiles and they literally don't seem to ever make a technical or real argument in favor of bitcoin.

I wouldn't put money into either of those shitcoins so the considerations aren't worth reading.

It's really interesting if you look at it, I have seen more FUD stories about ETH this week than ever before, yet VB says he is confident in ETH 2.0 right around the horizon. 4x the amount of devs as any other protocol and the largest corporate partners anywhere in crypto yet the price cant catch a break.

In my humble opinion, this reaks of clear manipulation and suppression before the next big go around. Especially given that with ETH 2.0 there will be:

- reduction in circulating supply from people losing their ETH 1.0 to ETH 2.0

- Reduction in inflation by 10x with PoS

- reduction in the circulating supply as people opt in to stake their ETH

- reduction in the circulating supply when corporations have to hold ETH to pay for GAS costs

I think the price is going to go absoulety bonkers in 2020-2022 and this suppression is a very important to make sure you get the correction buy in.

Yeah I seriously only see really dumb seeming people posting not to buy. Now is the time. I'm going to buy ETH now. I'll put half my money in and if it dips lower I'll buy more.

I see no reason to buy bitcoin. Seems like BTC maximalist people are losers.

Given how you've done a good bit a research, I'll spoonfeed you some info.

Bitcoin's value is based on trust and it's usage will surely go up during the incoming recession leading to a higher price. ETH's potential has yet to be released as smart contracts are the future but they haven't gained full adoption. Why hasn't ETH gained full adoption yet? They're waiting on Chainlink.

they have bitcoin bags

bitcoin is just a speculative toy, doesn't matter much in the world and that's never going to change.
Ethereum aims to become the global decentralized platform for pretty much all transactions that move value in some way. If the vision pans out, everything is going to depend on ethereum, the price is going to be above $100k and one staking node is going to generate enough income to live an upper middle class lifestyle.
It's not a binary bet, it's a spectrum. Even if ethereum remains a niche and adoption grows only several times from the current, under PoS it's going to mean a price of 500+. Not really moon but nothing bad either.
