You have to do some incredibly scummy things to make the kinds of margins that some of these studios have been making, and the money only starts flowing once you've gotten established, which means sinking a ton of money into producing content and advertising without seeing any upside for quite some time. It's a bit of a meme to say it's a deal with the devil, but what it boils down to is finding unscrupulous financiers with deep pockets and engaging in very unscrupulous business practices while making sure that you're shielded behind a wall of very expensive lawyers.

There are better ways to make money.
