Anyone here hunting? Is it a good way to save money? I reckon one elk should last me at least one year, so I would literally not have to buy meat for at least a year which is the most expensive part of my diet. Do you just go out and get one or do you have to pay someone to be allowed to shoot it?

Its not really cost effective for how much time you spend doing it. You hunt if you enjoy hunting and want some organic grass fed meat style bullshit

Ho would you store elkmeat?

I have a lot of time on my hands, so I don't really mind spending some time on it if I can get cheap meat. Any other big costs than the bow?

Hunting license, elk calls, ammunition, smoker/freezer, rifle (cheaper in the long run), transportation.
Just hunt as a hobby or hunt small game for food.

Fishing would be a much more cost effective way to save money and get meat. Hunting is expensive and hard.

Yeah it sounds like it is to much hassle to be worth it. Fishing is good, but you only get a little at a time and I can't see myself eating fish every day

I've heard that bow hunting can be cheap. Never done it myself. Maybe find a bow hunting board and ask them about it.
