So I'm trying to learn more about options and there are somethings I need to clarify that I can't seem to get from just googling.

You can buy a put option without owning the underlying asset right? But if you own the asset is it generally more profitable to sell the contract or exercise the option if its ITM? And what I don't understand is, if you strictly buy calls/puts your maximum loss is only the premium paid. So how do all those loss porn came about. Do people actually write options without owning the asset when they don't what theyre doing? Or is it from consecutive contracts that expire worthless?

Thats the thing anon. From my understanding, writing options is dangerously way more risky to do instead of just buying/selling them (trading between holders) where your loss is only the premium you buy. Which is why I'm asking how all these massive losses came about? Unless I'm missing something, I can't see how you can lose that much from just being a holder.

And don't worry anon I'm not trying to touch options at all. Just wanna know the whole market

How is it dangerous or risky?
If you have the underlying assets, writing a covered call is nothing.

Say, you have 100 of AMD at $5 and you decide to sell a call at $6 per share with a $1 premium per share. (unrealistic but stay with me.)
Best case scenario, the option expires worthless and you keep the $1 per share premium.
Worst case scenario, the option is in the money, your shares are called away, and you make $2 per share in total.

This is not a bad strategy for people looking for steady realized returns.

>> No.16537459

>>16537441
So how do we end up with so many deep in the money options? What’s the motivation for writing those?

>> No.16537498

>>16537459
Well, I suppose that you can go ahead and collect a really fat premium up front, and if the market takes a dive, you can buy your call back if the guy doesn't exercise the option.
Generally though, you'd have to write the premium price much higher for a low strike price.
Either way though, it's money in your pocket whether he chooses to exercise or not.

For example:

100 AMD at $5

Strike price at $2 for $5 premium

Best case scenario, the price falls and the premium becomes $4 a share, you can buy back the option

Worst case scenario, the price rises and your shares are called away at $2. However, you get the same return in the end.

>I'm pretty happy with my BMW. In retrospect, I should have done something different with the money or waited a little longer for depreciation before I purchased, but the car itself has been absolutely flawless.
You either haven't really had it very long or I find this very hard to believe. Every single European car I've ever had has been quite stylish but also utterly shit as far as reliability and random shit breaking and costing a left nut to fix. Never again.

Hydrogen need lots of energy to produce. Electrolysis has a energy conversion efficiency of 60 to 85 percent, depending on the method used. Unless its not done with renewables it makes no sense to use hydrogen.

Hydrogen fuel prices range from $12.85 to more than $16 per kilogram (kg), but the most common price is $13.99 per kg (equivalent on a price per energy basis to $5.60 per gallon of gasoline), which translates to an operating cost of $0.21 per mile.
At $3.50 per gallon gasoline, a conventional vehicle costs about $0.13 per mile to operate.
Source: https://cafcp.org/content/cost-refill

Yes, i know, there is this "new" process where you use natural gas and bubble it through molen metal so it turns into H2 and Carbon. I have no data on how much energy that needs. But its "new" so they didnt build one of them on every gas station. Also there are not that many hydrogen stations. At least where i live. We need more infrastructure for it to be a viable solution. Same goes for super chargers. But at least almost everyone can charge a battery at home.

Lets talk about the tank.
2 options: high pressure tank or a tank for liquid hydrogen.
Everything else, e.g. storage in some weird liquid, polymer, metal sponge or whatever, is future stuff.
For the high pressure tank: It needs high pressure lines, high pressure connectors, high pressure gas station (no cheapo). Also should be checked now and then so it wont blow your socks of while driving.
The liquid gas tank: H2 wont stay liquid and at low temperatures on itself. To keep its temperature it has to evaporate (evaporation chill). Which is fine as long as you use the gas that evaporates. As soon as you stop your car, pressure will build up in your tank. An since the hydrocar engineers are no maniacs they obviously have built in pressure relief valves. So the hydrogen is blown into atmosphere. It shouldnt accumulate inside your garage though.
So thats why high pressure tanks are state of the art.

Real garlic is definitely way better but garlic supplements are an option, it might take more time for the benefits if you go the supplement route.

Also a really heart felt story about garlic... When I was a 10 yr old I wanted all these aftermarket parts for my bike and other crap. My dad told me to pedal down to my one old lady in the neighborhood to ask for a job. Well, I did and she wasn’t home. I wanted to work so bad I pedaled back home wrote a note how bad I want a job and my house number. She called me and I worked for her, doing yard work, push mowing huge pieces of yard that had to be perfect straight lines, wheel narrowing mulch up through the woods making paths to a bench then around normal things at the house/barn to make look nice, shoveling horse shit in the barn, caring for horses, shoveling, keeping up her fence for horses, weed whacking fields, gardening and ect.. well one day she told me about having skin cancer and I watched the process of how it got worse, it was just one spot/patch, heard all the news when she got back from appointments. One day she said how she believed in natural medicine, she’s the one who taught me everything about gardening and health of everything, and she’s not taking the crap (((they))) want her to. So she showed me and would put a fresh garlic clove cut on her skin hold it there for awhile then wear the garlic stench all day. After months they said it was getting better and the end of the year the cancer was completely gone. .. Ever since I been eating at least a fresh whole garlic clove everyday and cook with it with as much as I can

I'm super overweight in KO because its the first stock I ever owned and I just kept buying that in addition to my mutual funds. but now I try to balance it out with core stocks and then non-core. But mostly where I see undervalued or fairly valued companies that are amazing, I'll buy those first.

Right now my eyes are adding to my BAC and CSCO positions, but I'd really like to start a position in HON, MCD and NEE sometime in the next year. HON is the most fairly valued right now of those 3

The ideal action is to allocate your capital to the position which will profit the most from this moment in time onward. Whether you've personally taken a loss on any given stock over whatever arbitrary time period has passed since you bought it isn't relevant to that.
