So couple of months ago, my attention has been brought to investment and paper trading. I want to generate a bit more income as I currently make ~20K a year with around the same amount in saving which is bullshit. At 22, I should have way more money. There's one thing I know about investment and that is that I know absolutely nothing. But I'm willing to learn and have plenty of time - though sooner is better than later. Any books or forums to recommend on that matter? Cheers.

If you're not a shitholer find a better job. Then research the three Bitcoin forks. Make your own decision.

Unless you're a third worlder, get a better job. Doesn't matter how many pennies you pinch, 20k/yr income means you're not saving much of that, unless you live rent-free at home or something.

>find a better job
That's easy to say. It's a secure one I've been holding for the second year now and I don't wanna get into another one where I can be dropped off easier. The idea was to generate some income though trading or investing until I reach 50K so I can afford some unemployment in case another job doesn't work out as well.

To start, look up the S&P 500.
Then look up ETFs.
Find an S&P 500 ETF.
Read the charts.
This is your new savings account.
This will be your beginning.
You will move on to more advanced tactics with time.

Also buy some LINK on Coinbase before it’s too late. You don’t have time to understand what it is just buy some now.

How's things with taxi drivers these days? Working at wineries? Working at a bank? Do I need special education or skills for the latter? I'm having my troubles with most jobs because I hate being around people

On to looking up the things you mentioned as we communicate. How much should I throw at LINK? I have zero idea about how any of this works

You have 20k saved? Buy 1000 Link NOW before it goes up again. That’s a little over 10% of your eggs. Perfect.
Using the US stock market as your savings account will provide high returns on the rest of your savings while you instinctively educate yourself on this world of possibilities because you now have so much skin in the game. As you get better acquainted, you may to diversify those S&P funds into more risky, higher return plays, or other safer passive income generating assets. This will depend on the investment style you develop over time and your temperament. But, above all, buy the fucking Link.

Fucking hell. Really uncertain about this. Will throwing 8K do something? My parents always put a little money aside for years to get me to almost 30K. Don't wanna lose that. If it's a sure thing, I'll get shit going tomorrow.

>ETFs
terrible idea. Put it in a few individual stocks you research yourself. Index ETFs will last another 3 years max before the purge

If you want to start with 8 and keep the other half in cash on the side, do that. Just understand what a cash position is and what it’s useful for. Better to only invest what you’re comfortable with so that you don’t get over emotional and make poor decisions. But, just know a 10k cash position is a huge, dormant resource. Keep it as a safety net, or put it to work. The choice is yours.
10k I’m cash, for example, would be very nice to have if this guy >>16500056
was right. But he isn’t. There are no 2008 buying opportunities just around the corner. Derivatives are not going away. NOW is the opportunity, not some poorly defined convenient future happening. Stop trying to be smarter than the tides.

10K sounds a lot more reasonable. If things go smoothly, I might put the other half in a few different stocks or do some paper trading - but I'll see about that once I'm not contemplating suicide over losing 10K on some LINK or whatever else. Thanks for the help mate. Gonna get some stuff going as soon as I can.
