jokes aside. precious metal are okay in a portfolio. the rule of thumb is 5 to 10 %. if shtf this stuff skyrockets but you cannot predict the date of crash. you can predict that there will be a crash but not when. the idea is to achieve three things

> safety (gold, aaa bonds with near due date, silver, diamonds, bitcoins whatever)
> gains (or at least minimizing losses)
if you split your wealth you're playing probabilities more cleverly. you may not get the maximum possible prize but you're more likely get a prize for taking risks.
