At most, you would've made maybe 10x if you got into ETH when BTC was on the rise. So maybe if you were a crazy person who threw 50k into risky investments at the time, you would've made good gains.
The only time to get into a crypto coin is when it first comes out, and at that point in time, there is no indication that it will ever be worth something. It's entirely luck.

There are no coins which fulfill a purpose that isn't already served just fine through paper currency.
