How much $ should I save up before moving to California to get my real estate license?

Well you need a car...

I'd say 10K is fine, just live like a complete Jew. $500/mo for rent, $200/mo food, $300/mo auto insurance/gas

10-12k was my goal. I also have a few friends already living there who told me I could crash for a couple of weeks if I ever considered moving out there.

yeah this.

why do you want to move to California OP? I finally got out after living there for 3 years and it was absolute shit. Vapid fake people everywhere chasing ridiculous jobs/dreams that never pan out, homeless everywhere, mass complaints if there's ever a cloudy day. Absolute sensitive snowflake pussies everywhere

I live in rural California (born and raised) and 10k will get you 6(?) months of frugal living here.

I would really try to get 20k in cash before, especially because you are going to need to furnish a room and probably get work clothes and stuff like that. Cooking at home is even incredibly expensive here, 2-3x raw ingredient cost of places I have stayed like Idaho. Going out for a sandwich is $20, restaurant is $70-$150. That being said real estate scales with cost of living here so you could easily start at $20-$30 per hour doing paperwork for someone established.

I own a business here that is doing pretty well and I am selling it and getting the fuck out of dodge.

Two of my closet friends moved there after college, and a third is likely to follow. One friend is doing pretty well, and has a job in RE for me, so I figured why not. I already live in an expensive city doing menial labor after graduating uni, so fuck it.

If that's your case currently it won't be much worse than that out here. Where are you moving to?

LA. That's where both of my friends who already live there happen to be. I know the third one wants to go to LA as well.

I've done a cursory search of apartments in the area, and I've found some pretty good prices, but I still need to research which areas are safe and such.

Well hopefully you can make some money because LA is fun when you have money to out. Godspeed anon. I am up near SF or I would give some tips on where to live.

You are confused because all of the retirees would be forced to sell their homes which would cause demand for agents. I don't think it's a good idea but there would be 3-5 years of good work for OP.

sorry i missed you. yeah, those areas are mostly good. your friends should be able to give you some idea about where not to go. at least not until you've been here a while. have fun in the capital of the third world. it can be an interesting place if you throw out your preconceptions and experience it for what it is.
