How much would I have to invest into stocks or a vangaurd account or any other asset to make about 20k a year. I hope to buy cheap land in northern MI and pay it off in full and just have to pay property tax. Use solar to replace at least most of my electricity bill and farm for half of my food.

I'll have a decent paying job to buy the land and the solar and wind products as well as invest. Some general figures would help me move closer to my goal of living the small life.
