Fees and transaction times will rise rapidly when you fill at capacity, which is about 7 TPS max. It's not sufficient to serve the economy of a Haitian village, let alone anything bigger.

It's literally bottlenecked so hard by blocksize that it can't be used as a currency anymore. The blockstream niggers even removed instant transaction capability, ensuring it can never be used as currency regardless of blocksize.

Lightning network is not Bitcoin and is it's own can of worms. It was always designed to fail, it's literally vaporware/scamware that destroys not only the security model of Bitcoin, but also the economic incentive model of Bitcoin.

If you move transactions OFF the chain, you kill mining profits and the entire thing falls apart. And you are no longer a P2P network, you become a hub and spoke network where hubs need to become centralized and licensed money transmitters much like the banking network of today.
