Why would you turn down a job offer thinking that the market was going to crash?

Working a job wouldn't have stopped you from trading; you could have bought your put options anyway.

Additionally, it would have given you additional resources to invest in your expected rare opportunity; and if your investment plan failed, it would have given you something to fall back on.

It seems like taking that job would have been perfectly in line with what you expected to happen. What was your reasoning for not taking it?
