High performance engines need higher grade gasoline which can handle higher pressure without exploding, which would cause engine knock (ping), which fucks it up.

I only use 91 or 94 in my car or else it fucks it up.

I agree. My porch needs at least 100 octane to run properly. Plus my porch is made out of plywood and has lounge chairs on it, so it isn't that stable at high speeds.

high performance engines with higher compression ratio require higher octane for optimal work. higher octane gas has lower energy in it so a normal engine will not benefit at all. ignition timing will adjust but optimal performance will only happen at the correct octane usage.

>> No.16280668

>>16280426
>>16280615
well technically that only works when using higher octane than recommended if you use lower the compression will ignite the gas and yes your engine can get rekt

>> No.16280785

>>16278676
lol'ing at the people in this thread. there's only two at the gas station, 87 and 91, 89 is simply a mixture of the two. higher grade does nothing for you if your car was designed to run on 87, you're literally just throwing money away. the real secret is ETHANOL FREE gas. that will give you a boost in MPG because there is more energy in pure gasoline than a 10% ethanol blend.
