Try expanding your geographical range. Some companies in less metropolitan areas have massive labour shortages and are desperate for talent. I had to move 8 hours north and take a 30% lower salary than i was expecting but that's what desperation calls for.

The interviews went well but I know better than to get my hopes up.

I had to sit one of those stupid personality tests as a part of an interview a couple of weeks back, I never heard back from them after that. There's just so many things that can fuck you up.

Even if I do get offered a job theres a chance they could turn me down for references or the salary could be too low.

Are you lacking experience in the field? Maybe that's the issue. For me, it took me 6 months to get a dev job after graduating cs and the pay is below market, but I'm planning to leverage the skills learned to move onto a higher paying gig hopefully in a years time or sooner.

I can relate to you so much because during the 6 months I graduated and was looking for work, I felt like I'd never find a job. My biggest piece of advice is don't give up, keep applying and stay busy. Remember to take care of yourself in between applications whether that means working out, praying, taking a walk, or even gaming. You will find something eventually, just don't lose hope and keep trying.

I took three civil service tests in my state. I used the study guides my library had for each test beforehand. I scored well and have been called by two. The second being my current employment. It was my plan to drive to a state park and cut my wrists if nobody ever hired me.
