It really depends what your goal is, your spending situation, and other factors which go into picking a card. Also you should have more than just one card, I don’t know why you’re asking the question that way.

For example, I am in the Army Reserve so my yearly card fees are waived. I have the Amex Platinum card, so all those benefits are pure profit for me. The platinum card also enables to you have a free gold card, which also has free benefits which are pure profit for me as well. Supposedly they only waive yearly fees if you were activated for 30+ consecutive days, but I can probably get it waived next year as well by calling about it. Centurion Card sucks for points, and the perks are not even that good except for the Saks credit and gym membership

Chase card fees are waived simply by being Army Reserve without any activation requirement. So the hotel cards which provide a free night per year are pure profit for me. I currently have the Sapphire Preferred card as well, but will have to wait to upgrade to the Sapphire Reserve in order to get the signing bonus.

I haven’t played around with Citi or BoA. BoA has one card that is really good if you have $250k+ in a BoA bank account, but I don’t have a BoA account or that much liquid cash. Wells Fargo sucks so damn bad, I don’t know why they are fine with being trash. I have had a Wells Fargo account for 12 years.

Don’t be afraid to have two banks accounts, it doubles your accessibility to using ATMs around the city when you can go to WF or Chase ATMs without having to pay the ATM fee.

Realistically, you probably want a few. Citi double cash seems like the best "general cash" card, good to have just for all purchases. I think your pic is also good to have. Who doesn't buy groceries? For your final card, I recommend something that does the whole rotating category thing. I have us bank cash+.

Be sure to pay attention to how the groceries you buy are coded. I buy groceries at a Super Walmart which doesn’t code as a grocery store, so I wouldn’t get the point bonus if I used my card there for groceries.

Chase Sapphire Reserve if you fly at least twice a year.
$450 annual fee but you get a $300 credit for travel, meaning you basically pay $150. Reward points are worth more for travel, and you get access to airport lounges. At the lounges you get free food and booze, saving you whatever money you would otherwise spend before your flight.

I've got like 12 active credit cards. My best card for cash back is HSBC Cash Rewards. I get 3% cash back for the next 12 months. My next best card is the USAA Limitless Cashback Rewards for 2.5% cash back indefinitely. Literally free money.
