But paying off almost $60K in student loans and paying off my eclipse (15K) and landing a high paying but somewhat unstable job I can't help but think maybe the money can go somewhere else more productive.

Buy something reliable and used for $15k and invest the $35k you saved in index funds. If you can make 7% per year, you'll have over $250k in 30 years because you made the smarter choice. Future anon will thank present anon for not being an idiot. Also, you're probably going to drive that Challenger hard and wear it out a lot faster than a Corolla or some shit, and those performance parts are a lot more expensive to replace, so your upkeep costs are going to be high with a car like that. Just rent one for a weekend.
