What's a CME gap and why BTC should go up or down, even consistently, to fill it?

Futures confuse me.

A gap is a wide difference in price between where trading closed in one session and opened in the next.

The only reason people take note of gaps is that they nearly always get filled eventually . It's very, very rare for it not to happen.

So if a price gaps up, there's a high probability that the price will at some point come back down to fill it.

Ultimately though an unfilled gap doesn't guarantee anything.
