Help. I have a lunch interview tomorrow and I need to know what's the right way use a knife and fork. I always switch hands between cutting and eating but it sometimes feels clumsy. Which is why i usually eat spoon only foods or hand foods like cereal or chicken fingers. I also know i will be really nervous during the interview and i don't want to drop a knife on my plate. I tried practicing and looking up the proper way and some people say you place the knife down on the plate between cutting (see pic related) but that seems odd to me i feel like food will get on the knife handle. Is this really what you are supposed to do or is it okay to just switch hands?

What does /biz/ do? Switch hands or set the knife down?

>Can't eat with fork and knife
lol, ask me how I know you're american
Fork goes in left hand, knife in the right.
Stick the fork in the part you are going to cut off and eat. Smaller stuff you scoop onto your fork with the knife

And no, you never put down just the knife, never. And never swich hands

Fucking both. No ones gives a fuck. It’s either European or American style. Do the switch hands so you look more European and refined. Place fork down on plate on the side. If you’re continuing your meal you leave the fork and knife as a triangle to indicate you’re not done. Place fork and knife parallel on plate when you’re done to indicate you’re finished. Learn some class anon

i talked to my father for once in my life, he said i should be able to use a knife and fork and not have to change hands. is this just boomer stubborness?

>> No.16174332

What even is this switch hand method you guys are talking about? All you have to do is hold fork in left hand, hold down food with fork, cut shit with knife in right hand, bring to mouth with fork in left hand. Someone draw me a paint illustration of an American retard switching hands while eating. I'm intrigued

It's easier to stab the food you've cut with your fork in your right hand then trying to do it with your fork still in your left hand. So after you cut it with a knife with the knife in your right hand you switch the utensils in your hand so that you can use the fork with your right hand. After this is down you switch again so that you can cut another piece with the knife back in your right hand.

This is what most people do unless you are trying to be a fancy fag which is what i think the interviewers are going to expect of me because it's a fancy steakplace

How can that be easier? You have to do so many more steps to get the meat in your mouth. Could you link us a youtube video of how this is done in practice? Sounds like an incredible elaborate way of doing it

Order sushi, use chopsticks. A plus is that it makes you look cultured. Good luck op

Not bait. Any person of a higher social class switches. American way is filthy to them.

What the fuck, never saw anyone switching hands.

I use the fork on the right hand and knife on the left, I never switch hands for nothing

Fork in left, Knife in right seems like most efficient. Im a poorfag so idk if its classy

JUST USE THEM HOW YOU NORMALLY DO, RETARD.

If someone cares about other person using left or right for fork or knife is stupid.
The only thing I would care is if they chew with mouth open and or do chewing noises.

Everyone is wrong - switching hands is American not switching is European. Don't mix it up.

Definitely bait. I am European and upper middle class and we don't switch. Fork in left knife in right is the proper etiquette.

Jesus Christ, there are right-handed people not able to use a fucking fork with their left hand? It's a fork, not a surgical incision.

Well that’s not fair for you to say if you are left handed. Then it’s clearly easier for you.

Not that important, sit up straight, don’t hold your fork with a fist and shovel, napkin in the lap.

Most importantly, be respectful/pleasant to the restaurant staff. How do you treat people who are “beneath” you is a big one they look for.

>sit up straight, don’t hold your fork with a fist and shovel
false. the interviewer will recognize your efficiency if you maintain a hunched over posture and a shovel grip. bring your face closer to the food so there is less opportunity to drop it. also, forego the knife altogether and rip the pieces off of the food with your teeth like an animal.
