is buying silver a meme? i just bought a .999 silver coin from a shop going out of business for below market rate and it feels... good. i used to think buying silver bars and shit like that was doomer mode and dismissed it but it feels secure. should i buy more and stock up?

This. In terms of wealth, Gold has always been king for the last couple thousand years. It is ingrained into cultures as a holy metal, The metal of the gods. It has global recognition by all races to be valuable, By all cultures. Silver is like gold in that it has many use cases, But it's not as rare so it's always the secondary more volatile asset. Don't be mistaken, Silver is important like gold, Just slightly less important. Yes you should own 1000oz, But don't put your millions of dollars into it.

It just depends on how much money you have. 1000z is just a nice stack if you had a hundred thousand fiat, It's something every rich person should have, At least 1000oz in silver. As for gold, 80% of your wealth should be in gold bar, Reason why its so much is you have to secure your wealth. Fiat is not secure for anything, It's not worth anything. You can always sell the gold or if worse comes to worse trade with it.
