If you can't already write games then either start there or don't bother. Idea guys are the biggest faggots ever.

I think you have to have relationships with publishers already. typically studios start by developing licensed games, nikolodean and Disney movie type shit, then build up enough savings to try their own game. if that doesn't work out your back to licensed shit

in general it sounds like a horrible business. they basically give you a fixed price and hard deadline and it's up to you to get it done within the budget. most small studios have collapsed so there are only indie devs and giant.

another weird dynamic is outsourcing. code has to be written by super genius 130k devs in house, but almost all art is outsourced now. the lead Artist will set direction with concepts, but then it's just managing 3rd world pajeets remotely.

also you have to fire most of your staff between games as you wait for new ones to work on. only core people are kept.

if your serious about this I would ask:
- do you have relationships with publishers or games media?
- do you know professional games programmers (not your friend who made a flash game)
- do you know professional artists who can manage other artists?
- are you willing to work and absurd amount of hours and take on huge financial risk to make shitty games?
- are you good at making business deals and managing relationships?

OK, let's say I'm an idea guy. I know exactly what I want the game to look like and play like. I have the game's name, all the characters' names, ideas for each characters' appearance/attire, the entire storyline text typed out, what each controller button input does, all the game modes, the actual gameplay mechanics, etc. ALL of that typed out, explained and saved
What could I do to get that game created? And I mean professionally, good enough to go on the next PlayStation console. Even if the game has to take a few years to create. Can I just....pay a game developer/publisher to do it, like work out a deal?
I understand that I would need to pay a LOT of money to make this a reality, most likely millions. Any idea of how much? Keep in mind I just want to make that ONE game (and maybe sequels for it, if the first one's successful)

Ask to meet a CEO of a local game developer.

you cant just make a high budget game like that, you either need to build your own little studio and grow it out to the point that publishers are willing to pay to make that game, or you need to get in a big company like ea or ubi and make your way up the chain to one day maybe get a project greenlit depending on how good of a dev you have been over the years. You need credit to make something big

you're going to have to code. Develop a game, put out media on youtube, /v/, reddit etc. Gain a following then do a kickstarter or indiegogo campaign. use that money to release and then it should have steady sales if the game is good.

That's the only way to make money as an indie game dev without publishers or backers. But you have to be coding, idea guys don't go anywhere. Use Unity or Unreal if you're skilled enough. Unity 2019 is very close to looking like Unreal nowadays but the average gamer is gay for unreal so there's that.
