/biz/nessmen, how do you propose revolutionizing the glasses industry when one company owns not only all the brands, but most of the US Retail shops for glasses, the largest lens manufacturer, and the second largest vision insurer?

Are you retarded? I get and see my prescription every year. My prescription does change, and when I get the new lenses they are visibly better. I only see him for the office visit and never buy glasses from my doctor, so he gets paid the same amount to tell me "your vision hasn't change" as "your vision has changed". Not only that, he's medically qualified to give me the surgery, which is $$$$$$$ compared to an office visit.

Ah. Yeah, mid-twenties prescription changes suck. I waited too long, though- I was 30 when I had it done.

BEST fucking thing I ever did in my life, holy shit. -10.25, -2.50 OD, -11.25 (!!), -0.75 OS... and now I see at 20/25 left and 20/20 right. At least that's what my little card says. I think my vision might have gotten better in the last couple of years. Doctor knew his shit.

If any of you faggots made a few thousand dollars selling cryptocoins to fucktards, put that money into your vision and burn your fucking glasses.

I've set aside $5K already (not cryptocurrency money) in a SmartyPig account (you can split the money in it among multiple goals; e.g. new car, iPad, surgery, emergency fund, etc.). Figure that with health insurance that will more than likely be enough.

Unless you have some very, very good insurance, it's considered "cosmetic" and will not be covered.

I do have some vision coverage, but I expect I'll just put the $2500 max in my FSA in the year I'm planning to do it. I'm going to go the best doctor in my area, regardless of whether or not they're covered under my vision plan.

I don't think you waited that long. I'm also almost 24 and blind as a bat without my glasses. I will probably get it done around 30 as well. Seems like the safest age.

I'm still a little paranoid about it though. I mean it's only been around like 10 years, we don't really know if there will be any major negative affects of it down the line. How does putting a laser into your eyes even fix your vision?

LASIK has been approved and done in the US since 1992. More like 20 years.

Yeah but they also change up the operation all the time so it's almost impossible to monitor the long term effects of each one.

Like what? All it does it alter the shape of your cornea through destruction. That's it. There are known minor issues relating to tear production as it also destroys some nerves and other things in the cornea, but when you're BLIND AS FUCK and wearing coke bottles, the advantages far, far outweigh any problems.

>How does putting a laser into your eyes even fix your vision?

How does altering the shape of a lens (a function your cornea serves, not just your actual lens) affect the way it focuses light? They used to use a blade for this shit, but the laser is far, far more precise.
