Not him, but you can do the bare minimum DEWM for about 450 bucks and get dividends all but 3 weeks of the year. Payout varies, but for instance, the week of October 18th I made about 2 dollars per DEWM, in addition to the value of the grouping going up. But the week before that I only made 40 cents because only one of the stocks paid that week. Since I started 3 months ago I've made about 7.55. Not impressive, especially compared to holding the same value in VTI on Vanguard, but it's better than the nothing that value of cash would have generated.

I usually add 100-200$ a month to my broker account, sometimes more, sometimes less but I try to be consistent with it. However, I gravitated towards at the very least have 1500-2000$ when opening a position. Buying shares for 100$ drives me insane since the fluctuation in price is very slow. What do you guys do if you add small amounts to your account? Keep the cash aside or constantly buy low value positions ?

well, the company isn't setting the yield in terms of %, that's the market doing it. for the market to price the underlying assets as a price where the yield is that high means that there is inherent risk. when there is less risk, the yield will approach the risk-free rate (gov bonds). the yield is high in order to offset the risk of owning the company (or sector via an ETF).

The only two 5%+ dividend stocks I'm willing to own right now are MO and T. I care more about annual dividend growth and yield on cost than I do about current yield. It's a lot easier to get dividend raises than it is to invest new capital.

The stock market will also probably surge for a bit longer, possibly until the election. Fed/Govt is good at hiding these things until the last possible moment. So the question is are you in this for short-term high risk high reward speculation? If so then sure, go ahead and try timing the peak of this bubble. today volume of SPY was 28M. IVV volume was 2.8M and VOO 1.3M. It just means that if you plan to trade it frequently SPY is better because the bid-ask spread is tighter and way more orders sitting there. Everything Powell has said projects the idea of these rate cuts being part of a mini-adjustment similar to 1998, which itself was 3 rate cuts.

Slightly green on a day I should have been nicely green on if that for... the dude weed. Fuggin' dude weed man. One of these days it's going to reverse for real and I will probably get in late because I don't trust it. OGI gave sell signal so I sold. CGC did as well, indicating sell for tomorrow but I front ran a little and sold today. VFF, HARV, and CWEB held the line. HARV, the dude weed position I trust the least, if acting the most bullish. Maybe because it's less popular I dunno.

Kudos to my Canadian choo choo train stocks CP and CNR for the nice green moves today.
