Pay careful consideration to the pH, water holding capacity, if it's in a flood plain, and the organic content %. These factors will push you in the direction of what you can and should grow. Don't think you can plant anything on any piece of land and be successful.

Also, there is typically a lot more money to be hand if you produce your crop in to an actual product to be sold like fruit to jam, and honey from the bees that pollinated the fruit. Don't just sell it off to the bulk market, make it yourself.
