I feel like whatever use it had for people getting started in career was gone long ago.
Too many people on there. All the same. Just making HR roasties feel like they are doing something by stalking you, or openly giving them reasons not to hire you by displaying everything(or not displaying something). Lets them be extra picky.

By not having it you let them assume the best, or at worst need to find out more in person.
My peers tell me bullshit like companies wont trust you without it and how i dont look professional because i lack one and i feel like telling them they are lemmings and to never parrot that shit in front of me again

Recruiters look for high end roles and to fill difficult positions there with people not activly looking for a job... ergo if reached out you will get a good offer.

Linked in is pointless for call center shmugs or marketing majors which you can find by the dozens. If your are nothing special exp wise or career wise just stick with the rest of the normies at glassdoor or other job boards. No one will activly look for generic salary guy when they come in passivly

Im a new graduate and i just find the reasons completely bullshit.
If i was a senior with 20 years experience i would have it so i could be headhunted and nothing more. But if i were in that position i still dont think i’d have muxh trouble finding work, and could likely just submit myself to an agency who does headhunting so im on the radar. Probably would be more fruitful and worth paying for.

I don't have it. I had it once but the cunt kept sending me spam emails so I deleted it. Yes, yes I know the notifications can be turned off, but fuck it and fuck them. The other reason I don't have it is because I like it when people at conferences and workshop events ask 'are you on linkdin' and I can say 'nope' and I get to see their normie brains clunk over in real-time trying to make sense of it and wonder 'if he's not using linkdin then what is he using ?!? what am I missing out on ?!?'. However in the end, fuck it and the whole concept. I have fb purely for pitures of artwork, or good photographs, fat seals and walruses and also maymays. Until linkdin gets those things it is not worth it.

This is pretty true. I graduated college 10 years ago and made a profile since everyone said I should. Would occasionally get connection invites from people I came across professionally but any attempts I made to network with higher ups or at other firms were fruitless. Now that I've been working for 10 years, I get a decent number of messages from recruiters, but I'm happy where I am, so I just politely decline. So basically it was worthless when I needed something and now that I don't need anything people are coming out of the woodwork. Of course this could just be a sign of the tight labor market since the economy is booming now and was shit 10 years ago.
