eBay general:

Sales are kill edition.

>> No.1601623

So someone whose account is based in Germany purchased an item from me and has the address listed as being in the US. I checked the address and the company is some vague "logistics" company that has two bad reviews describing it as a fraudulent business that people use to forward purchases made with stolen cards. Has anyone seen this kind of thing before?

A German ebayer made a purchase and the shipping address is to someone with an Asian name at a warehouse in California. The reviews for the place seem to indicate that it's a front for people to forward packages purchased with stolen credit card info.

that's a little odd too because he has dozens of positive feedback transactions in the past month. the items he bought from me were some obscure music CDs rather than some super expensive shit I'd expect someone to scam. probably going to play it safe and back out, though. don't really wanna fuck around with some credit card fraud issue over $200.

why the shit did you use UPS

USPS + shipping insurance + signature confirmation. you would have spent ~$20 each way.

you can try contacting ebay and trying to get a "one time coverage" offer from ebay, probably have to speak to a supervisor in hopes to get anywhere, and with the cost being that high probably only if you do a decent amount of transactions

I'll look into shipping with USPS next time. Normally I wouldn't trust them with my packages. More than half the cost I paid to ship this package with UPS was spent on service fees.

>>1602269
The package was already out for delivery to the buyer by the time I received notification from PayPal about the chargeback. There was no time to fight it. I was practically forced to request UPS intercept the package and send it back to me. It wouldn't been less hassle to let the package be delivered and then ask PayPal to reimburse me since I was eligible for seller protection, but I didn't want to risk losing the claim.

Purchased a "new" ps3 psu and what arrived was a refurbished pos that was falling apart and dint work.

Seller denies any of this and when i tell them offers a 30% refund, then 45%, and lastly 60%. About to escalae theissue further and im hoping to get all my cash back without having to return the item (since i offered to return 6 times total).

This is why buyer protection is so important imo

Anyone get shady as fuck replies on kijiji/CL ?

I am selling a somewhat expensive item (by kijiji standards) for $300

a good portion of the replies are "is it still available ? I will come pick it up today"

During the emails back and forth with a few people, I tried to get more info from them like a cell # or an address (to show them the item works)
one person claimed they didn't have a cell , another person kept dodging the issue and just wanted to meet up where ever and I kept insisting on going to their place and deliver it/show that it works.

Has anybody ever seen a PayPal account takeover like this before? Somebody apparently got into my Dad's PayPal, but didn't lock him out, just used it to pay their eBay shipping fees. About $40 worth of shipping fees across a dozen transactions, over three weeks. The tracking numbers are posting from the same little town he just moved to, to make things even stranger. I can't see the addresses on the public USPS tracker. They go in at his zip code, and transfer to the next local place, and so on, so it's not the trick of deliberately fubaring the collection zip code. He only uses a moto e secured hotspot for an internet connection. It seems like some kind of local con. Come to think of it, the police had to take my mom to the emergency room just a week or two before this started, prior to that, pretty much nobody knew they were even living out there.

I've never had a problem with USPS. I never understood why they have such a bad rep. I always used them when I did EBay, and was always 100% satisfied.

I never bothered shipping UPS due to the higher cost, but as far as receiving packages from them, I can't complain. FedEx on the other hand are out and out retarded. I try to avoid ordering from anyone who uses them, because FedEx is more than likely going to lose it, or deliver it to the wrong address.

long time ebay seller here

I was in austin for +/- a year and in that time only experienced one or two issues with them, both lost items. One was found and returned to me because the label got too heavily damaged to know the ending location, the other vanished into the void. With the amount of volume I deal with thats an acceptable deficit rate.

However now I'm in houston and that is a COMPLETELY different story. the local post office here is a fucking shithole, probably one of the worst run post offices in the nation.

>They lose 1/50 packages (and that's being conservative)
>packages will receive no tracking update at all, then upon delivery suddenly says it traveled from my location to the buyer across the country within the day
>packages will randomly lock up on transit or be shipped to wrong location.

Most recently a packages took nearly 2 months to deliver because "we accidentally shipped it to the wrong zipcode", it was sent to the next town over, and instead of just making a quick travel to hand it to the right zone, it had to go all the way back through the network to their central shipping department...twice.

>around half of the lost packages vanish into the void forever and there is no compensation
>packages get beat up/smashed/broken. They lose our mail or give us the neighbors mail regularly. Ignore pickup requests (when stuff cant fit in mailbox i put it on front porch and schedule pickups)
>workers at the local branch -refuse- to let you speak to postmaster, and the postmaster refuses to call back or meet you. I've tried 5 times now and given excuse after excuse. I've not been able to so much hear his voice yet.
>Dropoff bin has been broken for 4 years now. now the clerk area has a "dropoff section" which is locked shut after 5 and on weekends/holiday
