>According to the IRS-CI, agents became aware of Welcome to Video, the largest child sexual exploitation market by volume of content, because of their work on previous dark web marketplaces.
>IRS-CI was able to trace bitcoin transactions on the site to people all over the world who were uploading and downloading this material, as well as find the location of the site administrator. By analyzing the blockchain and de-anonymizing bitcoin transactions, the agency was able to identify hundreds of predators around the world - even though those users thought that they could remain anonymous.

Looks like bitcoin is useful after all!

Probably just another case of the government lying about having godlike powers in order to intimidate potential criminals, way too vague even if they really were just trying to keep their methods secret.

I disagree, its was simply billed as 'Be your own bank' commonly. Most early users understood you deposed yourself of the funds in 'your' bank account. BTC was a way to control your 'money'.

Yeah instead of a bunch of banks that set their own interest rates and all that, Bitcoin is a network of computers using hardware and electricity to generate money on a public ledger. It's the beginning of a new future. In 100 years, we will see a way more advanced network or networks.

They busted a a few hundred pedos out of several 10s of thousands. How? The retarded pedos were the ones that bought BTC on KYC exchanges.

This, if you go read up on any other torrent/darkweb site takedown, it was always due to some small slip-up by the site operator, something as stupid as longing into facebook on the same device/internet connection
