there are better ways. for example i took out a loan bought btc on conebase it got a fix apr i can afford easily the monthlies so my only risk is btc goes to zero and stays there. it's a calculated risk but i find the odds overwhelming that in any 3 year period btc will give you decent to insane gains (sole exception was a short period after gox).

Basically you borrow money for a position you can't actually afford so you can make gains that are unsustainble. For this I put up some collatoral so if I was to long $100 on 10x my position size would be $1000 and I'd be using $900 collatoral from a lender. your margin on a winning trade only determines your available margin for other trades. and your margin for a position evidently determines your leverage. you can even see your leverage slide around when the market moves against you on mex. you start at 2x and you will find yourself next day at 3.7x without doing anything. that's because your position is fixed and your liquidation is fixed and your margin is sort of fixed so your leverage is adjusted.

That's all counting unrealized profits/losses. But what you say is that it is your margin. Which will equate to a % of your balance.
