I did this for about 6 months. The worst thing is having your taint smell. I bought wipes and would wipe in my back seat. But every other day i would pay for a shower at a flying j. It was $15 but that's just the price it costs. Getting a flying j card is worthless, the points will never accumulate unless you're a trucker.
I slept in a Mitsubishi lancer. At first i would cover all my windows with 3 sun visors but that was too obvious, so i would just recline all the way and park against a wall or dark area away from other cars. I'd hide all the way in my sleeping bag. And not care if people saw me.
Rest stop are great for sleeping in your car. Other than that, find a parking lot of a business without a security guard or guy who does rounds (unless they're cool with you). Best sign it's a good parking lot is if you see other cars or trucks parked there already. I never had any problems with cops waking me up except in Massachusetts, and they were super nice. The best part of sleeping in your car is that you learn to be thankful for the little things. Right now i can take a shower across the hall and I'm in a queen sized bed. No matter how bad life gets i think "at least I'm not sleeping in my car"

im a long haul trucker. My favorite spots to park are at Lowes/Home Depots. Large dollar store parkings lots are nice too. Pretty much any bussiness complex except malls are fair game. Malls have security roam around late at night and tag parked cars.

Movie theaters aint a bad idea either.

I looked into that. The y and also gold's gym. I was traveling through all 50 states. I made it to 29. In my case they do it so you can't just use gyms for the showers (you need to check in to your local one a certain number of times or something like that). But if you stay in your local City you're right, it could work.

I'm living out of my Nissan Frontier right now in California and the best advice I can give you is when you park on a street always sit in the driver's seat for 10 to 15 minutes and you'll know whether it's a good area or bad area. Two times I was able to avoid crazy Tweakers by just sitting and waiting for them to come out of the woodwork. Always Park on streets that have apartments and Condominiums because you will blend in with the rest of the cars parked on the street and no one will bother you. I'm able to eat everyday without refrigeration and cooking by eating tuna peanut butter and honey chili protein powder almonds soaked oats apples and bananas. It's a real Lifesaver to be in an area where there's a park because of bathrooms and water spigots. Having a solar panel set up isn't necessary if you have a library but I can tell you I would not be doing this trip without my solar cuz I hate the stinky bum libraries. And don't forget wipes because your taint will definitely stink

My big recommendation is don't park anywhere residential. Hotel parking lots are perfect. They're always getting work done on them and nobody will notice your van for a night or two, especially if you get suitable business magnets for the sides.

the key to camping at walmart is to park close to the store in the middle. you'll be surrounded by other cars and hidden in plain sight. if you're the only van parked away from the store it's kinda obvious. also the farther you are away from the store cameras and lights the bigger the target you become for theives and other low lifes.

I was homeless for 4 months this summer. Just go look at a house that's obiviously overpriced and not going to rent/sell in the market then clone the key. Return the key and go back a couple days later and live on the dl. Carry a weapon in case you run into someone else doing the same. The odds are higher than you think.

Get a storage unit and live stealthy quiet. Theres YouTube vids about it. Be smart about it or you're out.

Get a gym membership to hygiene. If you dont look homeless social engineering is so much easier. Pro tip, when getting city resources and aid, looking homeless is the way to go. Judgment gets passed when you look like you know how to survive.

Be hard. Sometimes you get into an intense situation and have to do things you didnt think you were capable of. Turn your brain off and just fucking do what you have to.

Hear me out, the one where I work at is only $40/month and has about 5 times the space of a regular storage unit at a fraction of the cost. The reason for this is that not many people have money for a plane and so there are always a shit ton of vacancies.
