Only been doing this for about a year. I used to invest in individual companies and do a lot of research but since I've been working a lot I haven't had the time to do the necessary research to invest in individual companies so I've been mostly buying ETF's. I sold some of those stocks related to individual companies when I was out of work for about a month as well. As of now I've mostly just been grinding dividend ETF's like SPHD, a tiny bit of VTEB (muni bonds), a tiny bit of F for big dividends and a large chunk of MJ as a bit of a gamble that I think will pay off as we come closer to legalization. I've never lost money in a trade but I haven't come close to /makingit/ yet either. I need to keep working so I can invest more before I can get to where I need to be. My portfolio right now is also only about 2k.

I've found some luck in swing trading. Buy something somewhat volatile (but not too volatile, for example don't buy dumb shit like penny stocks) identify a pattern, hold for a few months, dollar cost average down, and sell once it hits a high. I've found pot stocks to be easy to do this with. Make sure you have some "anchor" assets as well if you're going to do this. Stable dividend stocks/etfs (SPHD is my favorite), commodities, bonds, etc... That will at least somewhat protect you if you fuck up while engaging in swing trading. I'm hoping my strategy will work but as you said, it takes years. Unless you're one of those guys who's really fucking good at day trading and even those guys lose their asses quite often. Hopefully we'll all /make it/ in the end.

Its not just that autist. Its the outrage combined with shitty business practices. In the short term an outrage would cause problems for any unmanipulated stocks value, but looking at the big picture Blizzard's business practice is just bad. They are completely reliant on previous successes to keep themselves afloat. Clearly the market agrees with the premise that Blizzard is not a stable company because their share value has fallen just shy of 30% since the start of the year.
