>Decentralized storage for the post-cloud world.
Sia is the leading decentralized cloud storage platform. No signups, no servers, no trusted third parties. Sia leverages blockchain technology to create a data storage marketplace that is more robust and more affordable than traditional cloud storage providers.

Sia (SC) is the next x1000. You can't prove me wrong. Screencap this. Anon knew.

Whats the point of having a private blockchain instead of building this on ethereum?

Sia crowdfunded and launched before Ethereum

Even then, the stance of the Sia devs is that they don't want to rely on Proof of Stake (which ETH is going to move to) and the scripting language used to implement Sia is a limited, non-turing complete virtual machine, which makes it much more reliable and safe from attacks (as opposed to Solidity)

There is a Sia/Ethereum bridge being built anyway if you're into that kind of thing https://www.reddit.com/r/siacoin/comments/d2sf59/roadie_atomic_swap_between_sia_and_ethereum/

You literally can't FUD Sia. It's impossible

Let me go on

Nebulous (the company developing Sia) fought and WON against Bitmain (look for the Obelisk vs Bitmain saga)

They just settled with the SEC for the crowdfund they ran in 2014. Everything is fine now. They have the green light for everything else

They keep hiring new devs, the latest one being no later than last week

Check the gitlab

See for yourself

This IS the next epic moonshot. By 2025, there will be an estimated 175 zettabytes of data stored. Sia is going to take a huge chunk of this market because it is way more competitively priced, completely encrypted, and decentralised so that uptime is virtually 100%

If you people don't listen, I am going to screencap these posts and rub it in your face for eternity when SC prints $1

You have been warned

The 1000x is probably an exaggeration. Sia has a marketcap of ~80 million. I highly doubt it could reach 80 billion in value. Although, it plans to become the storage of the internet, and if it achieved that, it just might, so who knows.

I think the flaw with Sia is that if you trust someone to store your data, and their data goes down, there's no way to access your data. Now I have to pay 2 people to store my data (1 as backup), and I have to constantly check to make sure 1 has not gone down.

>> No.15910913

>>15910633
That's a complete misunderstanding of sia. You don't trust anyone with your data. Your data is split between 30 host, and if 10 people still hold your data, you can recover it. When you store data, you pay then, and both of you set a collateral, so if they go away, you gain money, and they lose their reputation. So hosts have incentive to remain online. And this is maintained by an automatic system that monitors the up-rate of hosts, so you'll never store your data with anyone with a sub 95% online rating. Your data is always stored, always recoverable and there's no need to 'trust' anyone.
The genius of sia is that it works with game theory models to makes sure no one gets screwed. And the sia team is implementing future system that will make it so that if 1 host becomes unreliable, you'll get automatically moved on to the next so you'll always have a 30 host to make your data recoverable at all times.
