Are you fucking shitting me? Why does this garbage exist?

I can't believe people are selling individual cards of this cardboard game for hundreds of dollars.

So you're saying sentimental value isn't worth money?
My girlfriend and I just sold a 217/214 Charizard GX I pulled for $750. Bought the whole box of cards $100.

>> No.15899076

gathered from rudy that the old wotc cards are not technically able to be copied. The belgian presses, the inks, the cardboard. The materials and industrial process knowledge no longer exist and cannot be feasibly copied for the uniqueness/imperfections to be correct.

Modern staples are not investment grade
Lottery cards are not investment grade
Legacy staples are not investment grade
The only cards that remain investable are ABU, and reserved list cards. As high ticket as possible (1x2000 is better than 4x500), and keep the condition sorted by never ever fucking touching them.

Any questions faggots?

not true, in the early days you had the alpha original set, then the beta re-prints/fixes, and then the unlimited re-prints. so it went:
alpha x 2.6mil
beta x 7.3mil
but do to so much demand they then made
unlimted x 35mil

when they printed unlimited many collectors had already dished out alot of money for certain cards that had their value destroyed due to the mass printing. so do to complaints they formed the reserved list:
https://mtg.gamepedia.com/Reserved_List
wotc regreat making the list and their is nothing preventing them from doing away with it other than a 25 year old promise not to. if they started to reprint the cards on that list their value would tank, regardless of what series they are from

i’m aware of the history of the reserved list. reprints are not the same as alpha and beta. giant growth has seen DI printings and an alpha is still $50. alpha healing fucking salve is $25.
even if they abolished the reserved list alpha and beta printings will always be scarce.

people always say that Wizards could just "eliminate the reserve list" and, yea they could but what would they gain from it? all it would do is piss off half of the already niche community and for what? so WotC could make a few more dollars from reprinting dual lands? they're already making bank printing $500 gorillian dollar Supreme Deluxe Extreme Exclusive editions of the latest sets all without having to do ANYTHING to the Reserve List.

I doubt he's scared when he's making fucking bank from both Youtube and Patreon from people buying newer boxes from him. The dude's basically a distributor at this point who can afford to undercut the market so hard on box prices because so many people have bought into him thinking they're "saving money and investing" when they're really just paying a Patreon tax to get some slightly cheaper boxes.

I don't think they are that valued. It's a great card, but who would pay US $166,100.00 for one card for their deck? Who would pay that to display it even when you can get lower tier Picasso's or a Lambo for that much? It's a speculative bubble imo.

every now and then I'll buy old pokemon cards on ebay for no more than $5 a piece, was surprised they have so many sealed cards you'd get at the 1st and 2nd movies so cheap and available

I bought 1st edition sealed fossil pack a few years ago, they go for about $15 dollars more than what I paid for these days it seems
there's a tiny tiny pin hole in the wrapper that bugs the shit out of me, guess I"ll just buy a graded one someday.

There's an entire economy set up within mtg. Mtg has been around since the eighties and has more players than any other tabletop thing worldwide it also has more players than some AAA vidya games.

As far as gaming goes way smarter than spending thousands of dollars on fucking pixels in all these micro transaction laden video games.
When I get tired of MTG I can sell my entire stash probably get 250x what I spent on acquiring it.
