posting here again:

I think we disagree on the mechanics of change in the yield rate. If you ask me about what directions yields are going based on government debt, they're sure as fuck going down: once indebted enough the ability to roll over debt becomes essential for survival for any organisation. Also as a debtor, you want debt to be as inexpensive to repay as possible. For these two reasons and because the fed announced "not QE" two days ago I'm quite sure you're full of hot air, dude.

Unrealized loss for the most part but its large like 10%+ of all my savings. If I make it back I'll probably quit until a recession or depression is clearly happening/in progress. Question is now a good time to buy stocks or not? On one hand I want to considering the market just keeps trying to pump higher yet on the other these prices look ridiculously high in terms of getting left a bagholder like its 1929 Great Depression.

Several of the big names (DJI, INX, IXIC, SPY) are literally 2x minimum or larger than their pre-2009 recession value (3x minimum counting the recessions bottom). I feel rather nervous when looking at how high its gone in just 10 years time compared to the previous 50 years and deciding if it's wise to buy now. At the same time I dont want to keep waiting and next thing you know the next recession hits in 2030 and brings stocks down to 2027 levels.

Another of my misunderstandings, I thought it as a 90 day time-stop.

I’ve been way too hasty in the past, not taking the time to calculate slope and wait for a full segment. AMTD isn’t my idea of a “safe” stock, i won’t be double dipping.

Got in and out of GEO even though it didn’t make a full segment. I think it could see some major pain next week, though it may be all for show and buyable. I get very worried though when I see a yield that high: 11-13% depending on the source.

Well interesting news. As I've said before your window to bag cheap T-babies is shrinking fast. They've confirmed my warnings. Share buyback is a coming starting Q4 this year!. Higher Yields, A Fatter Divvy, Higher stock price!. All is a coming down the pipe. Do you want to fork out $45 - 60 per share in a few months (or less) or would you prefer to strike now and fork out under $38?.. The answer is staring you in the face. Don't fret about the debt, that's rapidly shrinking as well. Long Live the Empire!.

What is "automatic exercise" of an option?
The Options Clearing Corporation has provisions for the automatic exercise of certain in-the-money options at expiration, a procedure also referred to as "exercise by exception." Generally, OCC will automatically exercise any expiring equity call or put in a customer account that is $0.01 or more in-the-money, and an index option that is $0.01 or more in-the-money. However, a specific brokerage firm's threshold for such automatic exercise may or may not be the same as OCC's.

I’m starting to hate Cramer, but two things he recommends that I think are good strategies are:
1. Always wait for a pullback. Buy quality companies on a 5-8% pullback. Eventually, investors will take profits, or the sector or the whole market will pull the stock down.
2. “Pyramid buying” - make that first buy on the pullback a small, speculative position. If it pulls back further, and it’s a big enough move, then you make a somewhat larger buy—assuming the story hasn’t changed and you still believe in the company.

>assuming the story hasn’t changed and you still believe in the company.
This is really important. Never do this out of sunk cost fallacy. Never do it if it wasn't your intention to do it upon entering the trade; for example, you entered with intent to swing trade, stock went down, instead of selling before things potentially get worse you rationalize and say oh well I'll just wait it out then. Don't do that. Define your trade to start and do not stray from those parameters out of emotion during the trade. If you constantly break the rules of your own strategy, your strategy is worthless, in fact it's not a strategy at all at that point, and you need to sit down and make a better one.

Secondly, be really extra pedantic sure that your research and your conclusion about the future of the company is sound. This is where I think a ton of junior Buffett Hodlers go wrong. Warren Buffett's strategy worked/works for him because he had strong confidence founded on exhaustive research of the company's fundamentals and the sector/market it was involved in. This is the hardest part of the long hold investor strat. I think it takes incredible self confidence and balls to do right. It's also the reason I'm a trader, not an investor. I can't do it.

Lol, if you mean "selling non core assets" and make a fat wad from it then yeah sure they're going out of business. First the assets on the Virgin Islands and Purito Rico were not that great far as income generation goes. Second both those areas are in prime hurricane locations, would cost a shat load to keep it all up and running if something happened. Third, the Empire is retaining the First Net assets, which is smart. Cause of all the storms that rage those areas. Fourth, due to agreements the buyer of the assets has to work with the Empire to still provide services. Which I'm sure works out to the Empire getting a massive cost break for them. Fifth, those assets are only a tiny sliver of the Empire, not U.S or Mexico both which bring in revenues by the tons v.s only a small bucket full from Virgin lslands and P.R.

GE still has a lot of work ahead of it but I think long term they will be ok. The CEO (Culp) has made progress on turning it around. He's already turned around one company already so he's got the knowledge on how to do it right. GE is a massive company, those sold assets were only a small fraction of the whole, so to go in and move quick would be to invite more problems to bite them in the ass. Taking time and doing shat right will pay off for them later. I don't think they'll sell anything else, rather keep them and focus on fixing things inside. The healthcare spinoff kinda got canceled when they sold the Biopharma unit instead for a fat wad. Which is a good sign. So load up on cheap shares now, make a fat wad later when the company is firing on all fronts again. I have some options that will wreck me really hard if this bull market keeps up.

On one hand I want to have puts just before the crash. On the other I dont want to keep buying puts on the off chance this bull market keeps up for another year. As for buying calls, should the market keep rallying upwards I'll make money. But I dont want to be holding a bunch on the off chance the stock market finally crashes.

Basically neither choice of buying calls or puts seems safe to me.

Relative was the word I used sir. I'm not an American so I can't give you specific banks/account types but I'll tell you the general logic.
There are broadly 2 things to look out for personal investing: rate of return and liquidity. What you want for those 2 factors depends on your time horizon and risk appetite. For this lad >>15904506, he probably wants to invest for the mid-long term since he is DCA-ing. However there is probably going to be a recession soon, or at the very least another dip like Dec 2018. So it would be wise for him to find a risk-free and liquid store of value (e.g. high interest savings account), assuming he is confident of timing his buy-ins. Doing so means that at the minimum he is beating inflation while being able to quickly turn his cash into stocks during the dips.

To be honest I would tell most financial plebs not to bother timing the market and just DCA regularly if they are investing at a long time horizon(>5 years), but since this is /biz/ I'm being generous :)

Timing the market is just luck. Sure you may get it right once and walk away with a Fat Wad but you can also wind up deep in the shat if the deal goes wrong. Honestly to protect your investment green and end up making more I'd just stick to a Fund or two and/or a few stocks for long term holding. Hell with a Fund your getting the whole market anyway so your risk/payoff is pretty much equal and in general is leaned in your favor to make you money unless the whole market just shats biggly. But the rebound from the shat is usually x 2 the loss so you end up in good shape after the fact.

Old good Lineage2, introduces lootboxes with rare items, chance maybe 0.000001%.
Whole clans spend thousands of euros on them to get those rare items, because by normal playgame it's a year of work of tens of people to get one item. They introduce more different options, more lootboxes, more rare items that can't be obtained by normal gameplay. Cost about 5k to get one item, few people run around having them. Dunno if game servers still alive, but it was like a casino game some time ago, I mean like true casino.
Black desert online
limits game inventory space, inventory weight capabilities, forces players to spend euros to expand them, various helpers to loot mobs faster, thus making grind faster.
Random lootbox "events". You ain't spendin? you ain't advancing like everyone else.
I believe all mmorpgs went lootbox way and are ruined.
Wonder what that new wow has in it's store... is there lootboxes too?

Do you really want to fork out $43 or god forbid $50 per for the Fat Divvy? Hell no, cheaper is better and all the more shares you can buy to boot. The time to Strike is now! Surrender to Him.
