If you're a poorfag just starting out, open a Roth IRA and put your emergency fund/savings dollars into it. Instead of stocks or bonds, allocate the money towards a money market fund.

You reserve cap space and get to claim the retirement saver's tax credit.

I almost did this but if you end up needing your emergency funds then they're on hold in the IRA and pulling them out will have very high fees eating into a lot of that money. Maybe I'm wrong but that's what I remember reading

You'd pay high fees on the withdrawal of any interest earned. But for *Roth* IRAs, the contributions can be withdrawn at any time with no hassle.

So deposit $5k in an account, earn 2.5% interest, a year later you can withdraw up to $5k tax free but also have an additional $125 (that you can also withdraw, but for that you'd pay a $12 50 early withdrawal penalty plus regular income tax).

2 types of IRA
regular - put in money, deduct that money from your taxable income, take out money at time of retirement (your tax rate should be lower then). Penalty for early withdrawl
roth - put in money that has already been taxed. when you take it out at retirement, tax free. If you need it before then, you can take out your initial investment amount without penalty (if you take out profits 10% penalty + tax)

Roth is pretty sweet to save in. You can gamble and not pay taxes on each trade and can still access your contribution like a normal account.

No just a really shit life. Got hurt in high school, shit doctors over prescribed pain meds got me hooked and cut me off. Cartel spics are allowed to operate with impunity around here so got hooked on heroin after the pills. Destroyed my life. Homeless for a couple years, criminal record that keeps me from getting any decent job or school assistance. Credit destroyed from the addiction and 60k or so on rehabs. Been clean for over 2 years and haven't been able to improve my life in any meaningful way due to the limitations put on me by society. State and fed governments are suing the pharma companies and winning, but I'll never see a penny. Ive come to the conclusion that the only way I'll make it is to learn crypto and how to trade.

Not even a felon but every time I try to get a decent job I'll get the job and be fired 3 days later when the background check comes back. I have a job but only make enough to live. I've been able to put away like 1.5k in the last 2 years which I've just started putting into crypto. IRA's are a great option for the long game if you actually have money to put in.
