In the US? States will likely continue to legalize. Federally depends on elections, not so much the president but the house and senate. Dems would need majority in both to do it. The current situation is better for keeping bipartisan support on incremental measures from the republicans as they do support states rights on this issue somewhat.

If anything I consider this a bonus byproduct of legalization. The weed uh, 'culture', I guess, here in Canada has diminished some since legalization. Legalization is a scam, it's only better for the government and the suppliers, it's better for the consumer if it's illegal. The memes about having to deal with scary violent drug dealers is bullshit. I have never even heard of someone getting beat up over a cannibis deal, unless they literally got ounces on credit and refused to pay the dealer, which is reasonable because if you steal hundreds or thousands of dollars off someone you deserve your asskicking.

The truth is that it used to be illegal because it loosened the grip of government mandated "culture" on people; this was when people spent time reading books and discussing politics and doing their own research. But now instead of smoking weed and reading books they got from the library or studying alternative theology and philosophy like they used to, instead the internet and digital media now exists, so stoners smoke weed and just braindamage themselves with porn and marvel movies and shitty videogames, which is actually way better for the government than if they didn't smoke weed at all and just went outside or went to the library.

The legal status of cannabis completely reflects how governments and intelligence agencies view it's danger to the status quo, it used to be illegal because it threatened their authority, now it's becoming legal because it re-enforces their authoirty.
