hey /biz/
what's your favorite type of storage wallet?

for me its the trezor

>> No.15831001

How much time is saved using one of these as opposed to keeping your stash in a paper wallet and sweeping it when you want to exchange?

>> No.15831014

>>15831001
I don't know how much exactly since I don't own one but let me tell you something about paper wallets
If you think about it too much, you will lose your fucking mind thinking about how many attack vectors there are even for an air gapped computer.
Source: I have completely lost my fucking mind/gone totally insane.

Only vulnerabilities I can see are the proprietary firmware, unless I'm forgetting something.

>> No.15831083

for maximum security, people like to generate their paper wallet through a linux distro with no internet
some people overdo it and generate their wallet through a device that will never ever be used again, but at that point you are practically wasting your time and sanity

i do recommend getting a trezor or ledger (ledger was my choice) as it allows you to do transactions with way more peace of mind and you don't need to do the whole "offline confirmation" process to keep your private keys extra safe

I bought all my crypto on coinbase and haven't even transferred it into coinwallet. How rekt am I going to get?

Exodus + Trezor T

>>15831212
If it’s in the “safe” you should be ok. I don’t think there is a huge chance of coinbase failing, but I would however never keep more that 5 btc on the coinbase safe. Anything more than that needs to go on a ledger or trezor

>> No.15831757

>>15830983
Be careful. Firmware update caused my buddy to loose over 1 btc on a trezor wallet.
I personally just use BTC core on a 1TB hdd which backs itself up every 6 hours to multiple locations automatically.. If I need to move btc when I'm out I just remote into the computer running the btc wallet from my phone.

this is impossible if your friend kept his recovery seed words

>> No.15831861

>>15831796
Literally not impossible. When he recovered using the seed the balances were zero and addresses different than before. Before you jump down my throat, Google the situation happening and read accounts of it happening to others. It happened.

that doesn't make sense. it sounds like your friend logged into a phishing website

it's all fake on reddit by pajeets in broken english, probably by competitors. if you have the 12-24 word seed, you can restore your wallet on a new trezor or any other bip 39 wallet

>> No.15832051

>>15831989
Literally giving people a fair warning here bro. I don't want people to loose their money. There's a lot of threads stating wallet updates fuck their access to their personal addresses. Worse yet, the living coins remain in the same address, visible on block explorers. But all restoring with the mnemonic does is opens new addresses.

Literally happened to my buddy. Who ironically does have reasonably broken English.. But that's besides the point.

and what I am saying, is that your story makes absolutely no sense. it's possible that after installing the new firmware, the Trezor requires your wallet to be accessed again by entering the recovery seed. but if you have the recovery seed words, you can always access your wallet with the Bitcoin

I currently have everything on a Ledger. I'm thinking of getting a Trezor and putting half on there. Increasing "surface area" as Sergey would say. What say you, faggots?
