Is daytrading futures a reliable way to make money? I know most retail traders can’t beat the S&P but I feel like most don’t study or try hard enough.
Any anons with experience please
I’m trading the e-mini

Don't trade (especially day trade) any U.S. market products through any of the mainstream brokers (IB, TD. etc.) That includes equities, futures, options, and FX. Raise awareness, write your congressmen, tell everyone you know, and legitimately raise Hell about it because the markets aren't real anymore. There is some EXTREMELY sick shit going on with regards to our "free" markets. Market microstructure is a bombed out wasteland currently where retail order flow is flagged as retail and basically blown up through the use of HFTs, Dark Pools, and Broker/Dealer internalization/internalizers.

You aren't even being given real prices when you trade as retail. I'm not exaggerating that. There are 2 prices from 2 different feeds. The direct price and the consolidated quote. You get the consolidated quote, the guys running the show get the direct price and they structure their trades against you in accordance with it. There is so much fucked up shit going on, it would take multiple people making a concerted and professional effort to fully account for it all and you would almost certainly be stopped from doing so because there is way too much money on the line to keep it going.

For example, when you place an order as retail, very often an internalizer will jump in front of your order and attempt to make the spread instantaneously. It doesn't matter how small your order is. If it can't make the spread, it dumps the order on you. If it can, you likely miss your trade. If you hear "price improvement" at all in any broker marketing documents, RUN. I'm hesitating to even post this, but whatever, people should know and if word spreads maybe shit might finally start getting fixed.

No, it's probably not a reliable way to make money at all.

It's not just retail investors that don't beat the S&P. Consider that the majority of managed portfolios operated by seasoned experienced investment professionals are outperformed by the S&P and have a big think about whether it's likely you're going to do better, I guess.

Daytrading is a meme. You're going to lose money doing it. Don't say I didn't warn you.
