because I don't need to work and I don't know much about developing games. that being said I play tons of videogames but the ones that I've played that have come out over the last 5 years have been almost uniformly from one-man dev teams or very small dev teams with one person basically in charge. To me, video games are an artistic medium, and now that we have the technology to allow easier creation by individuals rather than committees, in my experience the best games actually get made by individuals rather than large groups, as is the case in all other artistic mediums. The shoot 'em up genre is particularly well positioned to take advantage of this phenomenon going forward.
