If you have any coworkers who have prior public accounting experience, try to get them to be a reference for you. Most people still have contacts at their old public accounting firms. Otherwise go to a recruiter. Some recruiters will sit down with you and analyze your resume, personality and presentation, etc. and tell you what your chances are and what sort of job you should aim for.

Honestly you're probably looking at a senior position, go in at staff 1/2 for a slight pay cut. Once you're in and they see you know what you're doing they'll take you up to senior within a year.

All businesses will always need accountants even with automation you will still need some
Go to the interview, make sure the owners are decent people
Everybody will help you if you’re doing a good job as long as they’re decent people

Seeking a career of forensic accounting. The path seems to be hidden and unknown. I'm stumbling in the dark and just hoping someone or something finds me.

It’s not bad fampai. I work in a factory as a glorified maintenance man. $100k a year, less than 40 hours a week, nice bonuses. I mostly drink coffee, shitpost, and trade options all day. Maybe write a work order.

>tfw i fell for the mech engi meme
>tfw the career can go from being hell on earth in difficulty in some universities to being a fucking cakewalk in others
>tfw a course increased in difficulty at least 1000% because prof changed just when i took it and now i have fucked up a course twice in a year

it makes me mad to think some fuckers are graduating by passing the same course with literally no difficulty because of some arbitrary prof and that fucking difficulty isn't taken in account when you are outside working

this is stupid beyond belief holy shit

I worked for a CPA firm for 2 years. Wanted to kill myself every day. Work for a private company as a controller and couldn't be happier. I still need to get my CPA but my new job said they would pay for it. You basically have to be a souless robot to work in public accounting. I'm sure the pay is better but fuck those hours.
