how much you leveraging? What is the level of tolerance (i.e. percent change you can have) before liquidation?

>> No.15711204

>>15711134
How does one trade with leverage higher than 100% when even a 1% change against you will liquidate you? Do you have to just be really good at predicting the shit, or am I misunderstanding?

>> No.15711206

>>15711193
i'm honestly larping and haven't taken the dive into leverage trading yet
considering starting very soon, hence the urge to meme about it
general consensus says the safest levels for newfags like me is 5-10% right? these levels have a better tolerance iirc

There's generally a small pump before the dump so you need a fuck ton of Capitol to not get liquidated instantly especially with leverage

>> No.15711247

>>15711204
i've been watching a few traders on youtube, and a few of them called this dump, showed their trades step by step and scooped a good profit
they show their TA and explain their strategies so you can actually learn alot from watching them

>i'm honestly larping
don't worry, 100% of the bobo threads you see are all LARPing
anyway, you should never leverage trade with large multiples, it's basically suicide if you're not manipulating the market yourself/ part of a group that manipulates
they sell your position information to manipulators, they open positions contrary to yours and dump/pump to liquidate you

>> No.15711474

>>15711204
You would very rarely open a position at 100x. You would open at lower leverage, then when in profit, set a stop and switch to 100x, freeing up funds to open another position

>> No.15711491

>>15711448
hey I just have one question about leveraging. What determines when you get liquidted? Its based on the capital inside the account, right? Whats the ratio and how does it very per leverage (i.e. 2x vs 5x leverage)?

For instance, if you had 4k to play around with, what would be a safe leverage to short/long with?

You just hedge using cross margin, anon. The unrealized gains and losses will balance each other out and youll have no functional liquidation range.

/a/ brainlet here.
So the leverage stuff means that if I for example make a long position of 100$ with x3 leverage its as if I am playing with 300$ but how do I calculate my liquidation price?

Anyone shitting on op is retarded I cross trade all the time. Have a long open at 10,000 and instead of taking profit at 10,500 open a short instead. Now you have a short that will be in profit at the same time as your long if it goes down in the slightest, and if it goes up you have your long.

Because most exchanges don't offer cross margin between position unrealized profits.I'm doing it on deribit.
Currently -1300% on long and +800% on short. No liquidation price. Rolling profits into the long over several months time.
Just have to be careful reducing to not liquidate your opposite position.
Eziest money I've ever made

If you go too high leverage, getting out of your position to profit is increasingly more difficult. I never go above 25x total for this reason.

so you can just sell whenever?

>> No.15712447

>>15712419
Yeah basically. The point is to do this as a hedge to escape short term contract settlements and to roll profits to the trend position.
I use deribit for this since it's autocross at x100.

>> No.15712465

>>15712447
If I simply close the short, however, the long will be so underwater that a chunk of it will automatically liquidate. Takes some time to get comfy with that, and all you have to do it reduce in piecemeal so you never have your liquidation price come anywhere near potential price action.

>> No.15712580

>>15711204
not all exchanges or trades have liquidation price, necessarily. I know on Exciteprice it just runs as a balance, +- up to 100% return or down to -100%
